I don't know about that. He's a fifth-round pick. Let's wait until we see him play.
Rich
12:18
good day Ray I get that The secondaries in the NFL are changing but do you think Edmunds was a reach to play the safety and inside line backer role?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:18
We shall see. The Steelers obviously think he can do it and much more because they used a first-round pick on him.
Gus
12:18
people complain about taking Edmunds too high...he clearly has the pedigree and can play and has size and speed and clearly fills a huge need..why isn't that good enough to make him your pick at #28 and who cares where draftniks have him slotted?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:19
What I just said. I'm not saying Edmunds will pan out, but the people taking what these draftniks are saying about him like it's gospel is very odd. I have better credentials to do what many of them do and I've never worked in an NFL front office.
Markus Wheaton
12:19
by drafting James Washington and JuJu last season is there a clear directive of drafting quality character guys instead of WR diva knuckleheads?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:20
I don't think it's a coincidence that Bryant and Mitchell are gone.
Go Steelers
12:20
Thanks for your insights, Ray. If Steelers were to land Evans in round 1 and the rest of the picks be as is, wouldn't it be considered a great draft? Or should we be concerned with their lack of agility to adjust the picks after missing on Evans?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:20
If they landed Evans in the first round the entire draft might have been different. But to your point, Evans certainly would have made it more palatable for some fans because he would have filled a need.
Jonny Quest
12:21
Ray - for a front office that says they never reach, isn't that exactly what they did in round 1 and then toss a bunch of flak in the air to justify?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:21
Colbert pretty much came out and said Edmunds was the best player available on their board. So it wasn't a reach to them. Again, I'm not saying Edmunds will be any good. I'm just making the point that we don't know yet and won't know for some time.
Go Steelers
12:22
Ray, with the DBs they drafted, would Steelers either release or attempt to trade Wilcox/Sensabaugh between now and final 53 to add cap space or a role player at another position?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
I would imagine they'll try to trade Wilcox. If not, they'll cut him. I don't see why they'll keep him now. If they're going to keep an extra safety it might as well be Marcus Allen, whom Tom Bradley mentioned is expected to be a very good special teams player. Wilcox had to removed from special teams duties last season because he kept committing dumb penalties.
Dennis Dixon
12:23
I have no issue with Mason Rudolph pick..I don't know if he's any good but in nfl you have to keep looking for your next QB...correct?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
I think what it says is the Steelers really liked him in what they believe was a uniquely deep QB class. And there's not guarantee they'll like someone as much next year.

12:24
Any chance the team is looking into Timmons or Bowman as a possibility now?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
Maybe but I don't think before training camp. I think they'll use OTAs and minicamp to assess where they are at the position.
Drama
12:25
I have to believe that JJ Wilcox is going to be cut soon, right?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
Eventually yes. But no immediate need to do it right now unless you want to free up the salary cap space.
Jebrick
12:25
What pick do you like the most?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:26
I like the James Washington pick. Filled a need with a productive college player who doesn't have any baggage.

12:26
How quickly should they be calling Timmons and try and sign him based on 0 ILB picks this year.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
Why did they sign Bostic in March? Probably tells you how they feel about Timmons at this point.
Jeemie
12:27
Why did they reach for Okorafor in the 3rd?  Major project with reported lazy tendencies.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
He is a project but he was a highly-rated player on their board. Plus, Colbert said they wanted to create some competition at tackle. Probably doesn't mean good things for Jerald Hawkins.

12:27
Is Marcus Allen going to be converted to an inside backer?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
I don't think they have that in mind right now. Tom Bradley came into the room to speak about him Saturday, not Jerry Olsavsky. Not ruling out in the future, but I don't think that's their intention now.
Steelfan77
12:28
Ray, are you excited about any of the UDFAs?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Matt Thomas from Florida State is intriguing. Had some off-field issues at FSU, but he is talented. No idea if he'll work out, but his talent at a position of need is duly noted.

Ray, great job covering our Steelers.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Thanks
Tony Hills
12:29
with the NC State kid..do we finally have a goal line back now that Haley is gone that we can use?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:30
Le'Veon Bell is a very good goal line back and has the stats to back it up. He might provide another good option down there though.
Geo Net
12:30
Do you agree with Terrell Edmunds as the number 1 pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:30
Too soon to tell.
SP
12:30
The depth at OLB is not very good.  Any chance they grab a low dollar FA before the season starts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
They view Keion Adams as another seventh-round pick this year. He flashed early in camp before he went on IR. I think they like him more than people realize.
SteelThrillsSeeker
12:31
The secondary is pretty loaded with talent.  Is a guy like Brian Allen going to be a casualty of all the added talent?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:32
Training camp will sort that out. Remember Tom Bradley is a new set of eyes on all these guys, He'll like some guys and won't like others as much.
Justin
12:32
Any chance the Steelers sign a veteran Free Agent Wide Receiver to replace Bryant?  I know they drafted Washington, but I think depth is still lacking.
