I didn't like what I saw Thursday night against the Eagles. Maybe Bostic will get better. Matakevich is limited in what he can do and probably best suited to be a backup and special teams player.

He's been out of college for one year and he's already with his fourth team. Maybe Munchak can work his magic, but the Browns cut him. That should tell you something.

A more efficient red-zone offense, the ability to create more turnovers and some timely defensive stops. The defense doesn't have to be great, but they have to step up and make a  few more plays than last season.

Chuks is going to be a really good player. But he just turned 21 and hasn't played much football. He might be out of necessity, but I think the desire is to have someone a bit more experienced in that important role.

You've probably covered this before - apologies if you have - but the Steelers list Cam Heyward as a DT. Is his role changing, or is the position designation being adapted to match what he's been doing?

No his role is not changing. The change was made so he could earn All-Pro honors as a defensive tackle. It's harder to win All-Pro as a defensive end.

Yes. I think Baltimore will be better than Cincinnati and Cleveland. I am intrigued by what they can do with Lamar Jackson. He's athletic and might be a big headache for the Steelers and other teams. Plus, they're likely to be healthier this year. They had a lot of injuries that hurt them last season.

Still eager to hear more about edmunds. I know it is still early in his career, but have you seen some traits that make you think he could turn into a pro bowl player? Who would you compare him to in the NFL today?

I see traits that he will be a good player. I'm always hesitant to say someone will be a future Pro Bowler or All-Pro before they've ever taken the field in a real game. But he has looked good in camp.

I'm concerned that Tomlin is once again being too cute as far as his "dollar" defense. I foresee it working well until a good coach exposes the weaknesses in it... what say you?

I think it's a necessity. You're getting better athletes on the field in those instances. The only thing is you have to prove you can stop the run. If you can;t stop the run with 7 DBs on the field teams are going to run until you stop them.
