Chirinos, Yarbrough, Armstrong, Kittredge, Mejía, Poche, Chargois
Those are all possible. Though they could also be dealt if someone else likes 'em.

My understanding is that Brujan is out of minor league options, meaning TB has to either keep him on ML roster or in minors. With this disadvantage I’d think they’d try to package him in a trade (admittedly his value is lower after a dismal season) to a team that may just install him in lineup and see if he progresses. Your thoughts? Thanks.
Darragh McDonald
2:57
You are correct. He is now out of options and would probably fit better on a team with a less-crowded roster.

Could the Rays be a match for one of the DBacks young outfielders?
Darragh McDonald
2:58
Sure, makes sense. The Arizona outfielders are all left-handed, making a good fit for the righty-heavy outfield in Tampa.

McClanahan straight up for Luis Robert, who says no?
Darragh McDonald

Rays.

Is Melendez from KC a good centerpiece in an Arozarena trade?
Darragh McDonald
2:59
Hmm, I like it.
The Royals probably should look to move Melendez. I don't know if they will though.

What is a senior adviser? Is it a old person? What duties do they have?
Darragh McDonald
3:01
My guess would be they sit around the table like in Moneyball and say "This guy's face is too weird to play shortstop" or whatever.

Nick Anderson felt like he might have some small trade value. Any chance the rays let him go at his request instead of trading him for some lottery ticket? He seemed to have a good relationship with the team and worked hard to get back.
Darragh McDonald
3:02
I don't know. I think it was more about the injury situation. He never seemed fully healthy in 2022.
Even when he got back, he didn't seem like his old self.
3:03
He'll turn 33 next summer, so, maybe they don't think he's going to be like he was.

Why do people keep asking if Rays have prospects to acquire Judge?? He’s a free agent, not available for trade!
Darragh McDonald
3:04
The Rays are a pretty creative front office. Can't rule anything out.
earl
3:04
would they ever offer judge a 1 yr 60 mil deal? would he take it?
Darragh McDonald
3:05
I think they should do these creative signings, in theory. I don't think Judge is the perfect fit for it though.
He's a tad older than most players getting to free agency for the first time.
Since he's coming off one of the best seasons in decades, he's going to take the biggest pile of money he can find, possibly over 300 million.
3:06
Taking 60 would mean more money this year but then what if he gets hurt or something? He loses 240 million in the aggregate.
But the Rays should do something like this with someone else, sure.

3:07
Do the Rays make it to a 5th straight postseason in 2023?
Darragh McDonald
3:07
It's too early to predict but I wouldn't bet against it at this point.
3:08
They had terrible injury luck in 2022 and still made it.
Could be better in '23 just by regression there.
Orioles should be better next year but there will also be more games outside the AL Beast.

Hear me out: Ozuna plus a prospect for Brandon Lowe. Ozuna guaranteed $33 over 2 years. Lowe guaranteed 2/$14 with 2 years of club options totaling $22 million. Braves can spread the money over 4 years reducing tax hit and Lowe can play LF. Rays can fix Ozuna and clear the money out quicker and get a prospect with it. Do Lowe and Ozuna have enough question marks to make this work?
Darragh McDonald
3:09
I don't see anyone wanting to take on Ozuna.
3:10
Not only has he been bad for a while, but he also has a domestic violence suspension and a DUI.

Could the Rays sign a past-peak superstar slugger (Longoria, McCutchen, Carlos Santana, Nelson Cruz, etc.)?
Darragh McDonald
3:11
They could but I think they can probably do a bit better.
Casey
3:12
Jose Abreu 2 year deal with $30 guaranteed in year 1 and $10 in year two.
Darragh McDonald
3:12
If they have the cash on hand for this, I would love to see it.
3:13
Okay, we're over an hour so I have to make a move.
Speaking of moves, the Rays will surely be active between now and tomorrow night, as we discussed. So, check MLBTR for the latest. We'll be all over it.
Thanks for all the questions and apologies for the ones I couldn't get to.
