Withlock Started or reliever, he doesn't have same fastball as started! 91 to 94 , as RP 95 to 97, which one is more valuable

I understand the temptation to just leave Whitlock in the bullpen where he's been good, but he'd have way more value as a starter so I understand why they want to give it a shot.

When do you think Trevor Story will arrive in Boston?
Darragh McDonald
12:51
I would guess late. The internal brace thing is fairly similar to Tommy John.

Harper had TJS in November and is expected back in June, give or take. Story had his procedure in January, so he's a couple months behind Harper.
The procedure supposedly requires less rehab time, but not by a lot, I don't think.

When Story comes back, do you leave him at 2nd Kiki at SS and Duval in CF? Feel Kiki is better at SS with the arm and Story was great at 2B last year defensively.

It's possible they do this for a few games, but I think Story is the long-term shortstop. He still has four guaranteed years on his deal after this and Hernandez is an impending free agent.

Thanks for hosting this chat! What’s your favorite seat to watch a game in Fenway Park?
Darragh McDonald
12:55
I was at Fenway once. It was the early '90s. The scheduled matchup was Roger Clemens and Scott Erickson of the Orioles. My family got amazing seats right behind the plate. But the game got rained out.

Thankfully, the security crew let us have a look around even though there was no game, since we had come all the way from Canada.

Why did Chaim identify Story as a good investment?  His numbers were obviously inflated from playing in Colorado and he everyone knew his elbow was bad.
Darragh McDonald
12:57
Yeah, I think this is fair to ask. The arm concerns were seemingly there before they signed him.
12:58
It's a little curious that they have generally avoided big free agent splashes of late. But two of their biggest have been Story and Yoshida, both of which seemed to raise eyebrows around the league.

Who would make the best trade chip for Boston (come July) should they be out of contention?
Darragh McDonald

If Paxton were healthy and dealing, it could be him. He's making only 4MM this year. Pitching is always in demand at the deadline.

How far under the cap are they?
Darragh McDonald

Roster Resource has them at 221MM right now. The lowest luxury tax threshold is 233, so they have about 12MM of wiggle room. Roster Resource numbers aren't official though.
Okay, I have to turn my attentions to the main site. Thanks so much for all the questions. Sorry for the ones I couldn't get to, especially those from Linda. Thanks for stopping by.

If you want even more chats, perhaps you could consider a Front Office subscription. It's less than three bucks a month, gets rid of ads and gets you bonus stuff. That includes subscriber-only chats. Brad Johnson is about to do a fantasy chat for subscribers only right now.
Here are the full benefits...
Have a good day and enjoy the season!
