Welcome everyone! We will see how this goes....
Cardinal70

Tyrell Jenkins was claimed by the Padres, making (I think) his 4th team this offseason. Has his star dimmed that much and is it justified?
John Nagel
8:03
I was always a little suspect of Jenkins. He was a high risk, high reward type guy who hasnt found the end of the rainbow yet. I wish him well in San Diego
JC
8:03
Todd Frazier or Mike Moustakas? Who is the better potential acquisition? Frazier and Fowler in the same clubhouse would be insane.
John Nagel
8:04
Yeah I am with you. If those two, give me Frazier. However, judging by Eaton's price tag I don't think that's happening
Art Lippo
8:04
Do you think the Blues will trade Kevin Shattenkirk?
John Nagel
8:05
Sure. Shatty for Sidney Crosby and a first rounder. Man, I've been hanging out in the lounge too long
Tim M. McKernan
8:05
Love the chat. Any interest in doing an AM radio show from 5 to 7 everyday?
John Nagel
8:06
Thanks "Tim"! That would be fun but would be hard work securing all those sponsors. I wouldn't have time to write.
Gary
8:06
What trade value does Matt Carpenter have.maybe carp and walka for Paul Goldschicht
John Nagel
8:07
Speaking of the lounge.....
Bryan Pena
8:07
Will I get a standing ovation this summer upon my return to Busch?
John Nagel
8:08
You should. You are one of the greatest Cards of all time. However, with your commitment to the Salvation Army, I don't know if you will make an appearance
Mark
8:08
Where do you see Austin Gomber starting in '17? When do you realistically think he can contribute in STL?
John Nagel
8:10
Without mapping out all of the starting rotations, I would probably put him at Springfield, but think he could easily start at Memphis. I think a MLB debut late in 2017 is not unreasonable.
Corey Rudd
8:12
Kill Marry F .... Me, Hochman, Buffa
John Nagel
8:12
I would Marry you, Rudd. You are a financial planner and we would be set for a long time. I would F Dan Buffa because that dude is ripped. I would kill Hochman. I think that speaks for itself
Greg
8:13
What do you think the Cardinals will do with... Wait, this isn't Derrick Goold's chat... My bad.
John Nagel
8:13
I didn't realize Derrick had a monopoly on chats, Greg. The fact that you took time out of your day to troll me is flattering. Thanks!
8:14
Who should start at third base?

Jhonny Peralta (33.3% | 2 votes)

Jedd Gyorko (66.7% | 4 votes)

Total Votes: 6

Do you think the Cardinals will be successful without a power bat in 2017. Handsome is there any chance of the Cardinals picking up Brian Dozier from Minnesota
John Nagel
8:15
I think Dozier was a pipe dream and honestly probably wouldn't help the Cards as much as he would be worth. I think they can get by with less HR's if they can get on base a lot. They are going to wear down starters

Your new site is great. When can we expect the next one?
John Nagel
8:16
Ehhh give this one about a month or so.
Matthew
8:17
If/when does Carson Kelly become the cardinals main catcher?
John Nagel
8:18
With Yadi on the roster it will be tough for Matheny to make the switch. Molina has a team option in '18 that will likely be picked up so I will say full time in 2019
Matthew
8:18
Current minor leaguer(not counting Reyes) with the best chance of becoming an all star?
John Nagel
8:19
Great question. I will say Carson Kelly. I think he will be one of the best defensive catchers when he takes over full time.
CB
8:19
I happen to think that Gyorko should be the everyday 3rd baseman. Why do some keep suggesting that Peralta is the starter?
John Nagel
8:21
I am still a little skeptical when it comes to Gyorko. I think he could take a big step back. Also Peralta played pretty well in August and Sept

The Cards have a hole at 3B and yet moved DeJong to SS. Is this a sign they have no faith he could turn into a regular 3B?
John Nagel
8:22
That move still continues to fascinate me. I wonder if it means they don't think he can be a MLB regular at any position and they are building his utility profile. With the depth at SS and lack of at 3B it doesn't make sense.
Jimmy
8:22
After Pujols, is there a Cardinals player worthy of a retirement?
John Nagel
8:23
I am assuming you mean a # retired? Molina?
CB
8:23
He could but he may not and probably won't.
John Nagel
8:24
Referring to Gyorko. You are probably right. He wont take a big step back, but he probable wont hit 30 homers again.
Luke Weaver
8:24
I'm not Alex Reyes. Can you please tell everyone what a reasonable 2017 projection is for me?
John Nagel
8:25
I think you will be the first man up when an injury to a starter happens. You aren't Alex, but I think you could be a nice middle rotation starter. I think it's less than 50% you are still with the Cards at the end of the season.
CB
8:26
Why? He hit them in less than a year and he is only 28 and under team control until 2021.
John Nagel
8:27
Maybe he does, but he was really streaky. FWIW, Fangraphs projects 20 HR's from Gyorko
