Hi @Rehan we would advise you to not make any decision now. We will release a list of our clearing courses on the 12th August at 5pm. Give us a call at 8am on results day and discuss your options. Once you have confirmation we will be happy to take you, then you can decline your current offer.

Hi @Michaela. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation our campus is currently closed for all but essential services. Please keep up to date with any changes to this through our coronavirus website - https://coronavirus.leeds.ac.uk/. You can look at our accommodation options on our accommodation website - https://accommodation.leeds.ac.uk/residences.

Will you have an opportunity to view the university/accomodation ?

Hi @rehan. I believe so. If you have met the conditions of the bursaries and/or scholarships, I would recommend raising this with your course if you do go via clearing on the day.
Rehan

Do i still qualify for Bursaries and Scholarships if i go through clearing?
Abraham Bwalya
4:53
Hi @Sumayya the clearing website is http://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/130576/clearing_and_confirmation?gclid=Cjw....  it will be updated on the day.
Sumayya

What is the link to the website, is it just the normal UoL website?
Chloe
4:49
Hi @Michaela, thank you for your question! Make sure you wake up early enough to get your results, you can then ring through to the university on the 13th from 8am to discuss clearing.

I hope this helps!

Best wishes

Do you have any clearing advice to get a place on a course?
Abraham Bwalya
4:47
Hi @Sumayya for your message. If you exceed the entry requirements and meet the results of the architectural engineering course, i would recommend you contact our confirmation line. The number will be available at 5pm on the 12th of august on our website. You can the discuss your options with the department. The confirmation team can put you through directly to the department.

Hello, I have a question regarding clearing. I applied for a foundation year as school were not giving me the predicted grades, however I would like to progress on to my desired degree (architectural engineering) if i get the required grade. Do I ring the University of Leeds directly or do I ring Leeds engineering department

@GraceJ  you are welcome to ask us more questions, this is what we are here for :). If you are coming to Leeds through clearing you can apply for accommodation two days after you have accepted your clearing offer through UCAS. You are not guaranteed a place in a University residence, but we are confident we'll be able to help you find accommodation. We won't be able to allocate your accommodation until late August/early September and you will hear from us by 9 September.
Grace J
4:34
Last question, do you apply for accommodation, as you would normally, after you have received your clearing offer? Thank you for answering my other questions.
Amy Warriner
4:34
Hi @guest. On the morning of Thursday 13th August, your UCAS track will be updated to confirm whether you have been accepted onto your course or not. The wording will no longer be the same i.e. conditional vs unconditional, as a decision has been made. If you have been offered a place you can confirm this then, or if you have not been offered a place you can look at your clearing options through UCAS and start contacting universities. Best wishes, Amy.

4:34
how will offers change to unconditional on the 12th? or why?
Sarah S
4:27
Hi @Guest - we will publish 'Confirmation' and 'Clearing' telephone numbers the day before results day.  The Confirmation phonelines are there to discuss with you whether your offer has been made unconditional following your grades.  The Clearing phonelines are there to discuss available courses and Clearing offers.  Hope this helps.

4:27
thank you for that but what is the number for, like what is it to ask for?
Abraham Bwalya
4:26
Hi @Grace J, thank you for your message. If you have previously already specified this on your UCAS application, should you apply through clearing we would already have this on file. Changing courses is normally handled outside of clearing and internally by the university. You can speak to the admissions team for the course you are interested in and see if they have any places available on the course you wish to change to.
Grace J
4:26
Also would I need to state any learning disabilities while going through clearing? + If I wanted to change a 'broad based' course into a more specific course (e.g chemical engineering to chemical engineering with nuclear) could i change this after I have accepted my offer or would I need to go through clearing?
Abraham Bwalya
4:22
@Alisha C, each admissions team has a different contact number. Contact details for each department can be found at https://courses.leeds.ac.uk/. I would recommend however if you plan to contact us on results day, you call rather than email. As admissions staff will all be taking phone calls.
Alisha C
4:22
What is the admissions team email address?
Sarah S
4:20
Hi - the number has yet to be released but it will be on our webpages at 5pm on the 12th so do check back then.
Guest
4:20
what is the number for the 12th for please?
Chloe
4:19
Hi @Grace J, We don't have an advanced register for places on a chosen course. You can contact us on the 13th to discuss clearing positions.

Best wishes

Does Leeds University have an 'Advanced Register' for priority consideration for places on a chosen course?
Sarah S
4:17
The day before results day we will publish a Confirmation contact number on our webpages (different to the Clearing number):
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/130576/clearing_and_adjustment
Make a note of this number for the following day when the phonelines go live.  The staff managing the phones will be able to help with your queries.

so I shouldn't contact clearing, rather I should contact the admissions team?
Amy Warriner
4:17
Hi @Michaela. We unfortunately cannot guarantee accommodation for students who apply through clearing. We will try and provide you with university accommodation if there are any suitable  vacancies left. If this is not possible, we will support you in finding alternative accommodation. Leeds has over 70,000 students so there are plenty of student housing options available! Best wishes, Amy.
Michaela
4:17
Do clearing students usually get accomodation? and, do they get options to pick from what's available/left over or allocated?
Abraham Bwalya
4:16
@GraceJ  you would automatically be offered an alternative course offer if we feel you are better suited to a different course, this will be confirmed via UCAS track. If however you dont get an offer and see a course via clearing that you are eligible for, please get in contact us.
Grace J
4:16
Is it possible for the university to change transfer your course application to an alternative course, if places were full in chosen course?
Sarah S
4:11
Hi @Guest If your results are lower than you expected we will be as flexible as possible and do all we can to support you. If you do miss the conditions of your offer, you will not automatically be unsuccessful.

We recommend you check UCAS Track to see if we have still been able to confirm your place.  Sometimes we are able to do so depending on how many spaces we have available and how well the other applicants have done. If we aren’t able to offer you a place we may look and see if an alternative course with availability would be suitable for you to receive a change course offer (there’s no obligation to accept this place).

If you have mitigating circumstances I suggest you contact the relevant Admissions Team to discuss further on results day. Hope this helps and lots of luck!

so if I miss the conditions for Leeds I can use the clearing hotline to see if there's any spaces. Will they consider my reasoning immediately or will this take a few days?
Abraham Bwalya
4:08
Hi @Michaela, thank you for your message. depending on the course you apply for, admission tutors may still want to go through an Interview. All this would be down in line with social distancing rules, this may be over the phone or through virtual means.
