We’ll do this again before the deadline
8:06
Good chat everyone
Strakman
8:05
I got to make some dinner. Good sharing with you guys.
SC Jim
8:05
I'm going to jump off now but this was fun.
Frank Novak
8:04
yeah, Padres stole two wins by going to Mexico and still stink!!
Strakman
8:03
Giants will want payback against the Padres for that Mexico City absurdity.
Frank Novak
Could portend fortunes for both clubs
8:02
Big weekend series with SD upcoming
SC Jim
8:02
Lorenzen...I keep hitting the damn return key.
Frank Novak
8:02
Tigers have to decide they’re out first
Strakman
8:01
I agree about Lorenzen. And, he can pinch hit or even DH in a pinch.
SC Jim
8:01
I'd ve in on Korenzen.
Frank Novak
8:00
And again, Lorenzen would fit the bill. I would have confidence in him the way he’s throwing it
Strakman
8:00
Giants definitely need another decent starting pitcher for this year.Montas Tommy John.
Frank Novak
7:59
Montas is hurt and out all year. Can’t remember why. Great acquisition Yankees!
7:58
What they lack is a third arm to go with Webb and Cobb who you’d have some confidence in should they be in the playoffs
SC Jim
7:58
What happened to Frankie Montas? Haven't heard his name all season.
Frank Novak
He has experience pitching in relief too so he’d make a great 4th/5th SP who transitions into the bullpen in October as a bulk guy
7:57
I could see Stripling being effective enough moving forward to hold onto a back of the rotation spot. Which is really all you can ask
Strakman
7:53
Stripling did well last year in a tough environment. He pitched well yesterday, just had one bad inning and gave up three runs.
7:51
Manaea was the worst signing by Farhan this past offseason, IMO. Haniger was very questionable. Joc, that was somewhat iffy, but he did hit well last year.
Frank Novak
7:50
Stripling I honestly believe they wanted a decent bit. I think he sticks around. My belief is they thought they could make Manaea like Rodon-lite. It didn’t work out.
Strakman
7:49
If I'm a GM and the Giants want to unload Manaea on me, the Giants better be ready to eat at least 80 percent of his player option.
Frank Novak
7:49
it really would not totally floor me if they acquired some guys but shipped out Wood, Junis and Manaea all in separate deals for modest returns (maybe some cash sent with Manaea).
7:48
your point is why I wonder aloud if some sucker team might take on a Sean Manaea
Strakman
7:47
Make those buyers think a lot harder and accept a lot more risk.
Frank Novak
7:46
100%
Strakman
7:46
Only a handful of teams that are or will be in full sell mode. And a lot of teams looking to cement a playoff spot. That dynamic likely drives up trade value to be given up by the buyers. Kind of like a tight real estate market driving up cost.
Frank Novak
7:46
Because it probably means I’ve seen him play in person for the last time, and that makes me kinda sad
7:45
I’m not 100% certain my schedule will allow me to attend the makeup game in Detroit on Monday but I’m bummed Crawford won’t be playing
At some point BCraw will be involved. The Giants are all he’s ever known, since he was a kid
7:44
I could see him joining the coaching staff or staying in the org in a significant capacity. But he may want to stay at home and enjoy his family
SC Jim
7:44
For him in SF
7:43
I agree on Craw. This is it fir hi. In SF.
Frank Novak
I too believe Crawford retires
7:43
Cards know they can attract FAs or trade to backfill a spot or two this winter if need be. They’ll be dealing guys to get young arms.
Strakman
7:42
SC, Crawford has a chronic bad knee. I don't see him being with the Giants next year, and I'd say he retires.
Frank Novak
7:42
There’s opportunity in that division in 2024
7:41
I think the Cards have more pieces to dangle since they’re open to dealing guys that will be FAs after this year or next year.
SC Jim
7:41
Yeah, even if they don't think they're in it this year they might hold key pieces for next year. Similar ti where the Cards might be.
