Second Wave of Prayer for COVID-19
powered byJotCast

5:59
Well, it's time to wrap up this wonderful Second Global Wave of Prayer. It's been around 35 hours since things started, when the sun rose in Samoa. We've been blessed to see people gathered together to pray, to witness people praying through this live blog, on social media and elsewhere. We also know that it's only a fraction of the many times people have cried out to God in the past day. Let's keep on praying, keep talking to God and keep on sharing with him what is on our hearts.

I'd like to thank my fellow live blog hosts – Fernanda, Kellyn, Dave, Laura, Darryl and Kevin. I am grateful for your time and energies.

God bless you all!
5:31
The four prayer topics – lament, thanksgiving, praise and seek God's heart – have been really useful for so many, but perhaps something else has been on your mind as you've spoken to him?
5:11
As you reflect on the day, I wonder how God has spoken to you? As you have sought his heart in this time, how has he revealed himself to you?
5:05
Thank you, Fernanda! We are into the final hour now, as we approach sunset in Hawaii when 24 October will effectively finish for people there.

It’s been a privilege to be here with you the past few hours. My heart is full for all the prayers, messages and videos I got to see from around the world. May the lord help us to continue lifting our prayers for each other in lament, thanksgiving, praise and seeking God’s heart.

I will leave you with Joe who is going to be with you to wrap up!

Every blessing

"Sovereign Lord, in obedience to your word we come to you in prayer knowing that we have the power in the name of Jesus and prayer changes everything" AMEN!

" This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." (1 John 5:14-15)

"Lord we praise you because we know that despite the fact our world has changed all around us, you have not. Your steadfast love never changes, your mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Blessed be your name"

This is my favorite Salvation Army’s song:‘They Need Christ’ – 2020 version - YouTube

Let us not stop praying for those affected by the pandemic. "They need you, they need me, they need Christ".

Such powerful words

Thank you to The Salvation Army in Uruguay for sharing this beautiful testimony of what they did today.

The shared Psalms 13 which starts with lament, continues with faith and finally, ends with hope. "Lord, today we come before you with prayers of lament, we choose to cry out to you and seek your help. We dare to trust in your promises, in your faithfulness and in your unfailing ove."

Dios bendiga al Ejército de Salvación en Uruguay. 🇺🇾

As we continue lifting our prayers to the Lord, keep children in your hearts!

Dear heavenly father, we pray and ask you to continue guiding and protecting youth and children during this pandemic. Please be with them as they experience both sickness and health, joy and sorrow.

Grant us with the wisdom and discernment we need to lead, nurture them during this challenging times.
Amen.

I am an intern working with the Youth and Children's section of the IHQ along with the ISJC working from Mexico! 🇲🇽 and I am going to be with you for the next 4 hours.

It's amazing to see salvationists from all around the world united in prayer as one Army united in heart and mind.

What are you praying for today?

It's been a pleasure spending time with you all this evening. My prayer is that we as the Salvation Army will continue to lift up our brothers and sisters up across the world who have been affected by Covid-19, and that we would direct our praise to the One who will bring us through it all. Signing off from New York City and passing it on to my fellow ISJC intern, Fernanda!

"Years from now, the Covid-19 Pandemic will become part of history. Like the Psalmist, we would highlight the goodness of God and the blessings we have experienced during this unprecedented time in history. Have a sharing on the good things and mission opportunities that emerged through this season."

Thank you to the PRAISE - Resource for reminding us to praise through these unprecedented times. Join us by writing your "Psalm of Praise During the Pandemic" below.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

It was great spending this evening with you all, it's 12am here in Romania and I'm signing off and handing it over to Kellyn.

What is God's heart for His world? And what is your role? Comment with your thoughts and what you're praying for today. Let's pray together.

"When early Christians would pray, they would cross their arms and touch each shoulder with the opposite hand. They also fasted very strictly during lent, making their bread with only water, flour, and salt. A monk shaped this in the form of praying arms for children, and the pretzel was born!
We invite you to make your own Prayer Pretzel and while baking, you can share with each other what you are thankful for.
Find a super simple Pretzel recipe in the 'Thanksgiving' resource on the Second Global Wave of Prayer webpage.
A huge thank you to the International Youth and Children's Section for sharing great creative prayer ideas." – The Salvation Army Spiritual Life Development Facebook page

I am praying for those to whom the coronavirus brought pains in the families. I say thanks to God for up today sparing our lives, giving us the opportunities to see more days, as it is said in Psalms 91: 15,16 'he will call me and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation'.

What an amazing reminder that when we are praying, we pray as an army, especially in a time it can be easy to feel alone.

What’s on my heart? So much hope and so many dreams for our Salvation Army! May we be the movement God wants us to be, may we be covenanted people who are deeply in love with our Jesus, may there be renewal and revival in all our Territories, on every level and in all areas. It is amazing to be reminded that when we pray, we don’t pray alone, we are a whole army! I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for us! Let’s seek his heart and let’s follow Him wherever he leads us.

As the sun sets in the United Kingdom it is just rising in Hawaii, reminding us that the prayers of God's people will continue through the hours of this day. What a blessing to know that the Salvation Army family has been united around the prayer throne today.

Thank you Lt. Col Carole Israel for leading this session as the Global Prayer Wave continues across our International Salvation Army as we lift our prayers to a God who continues to take the impossible and makes it possible. I believe He will do just that today as He hears  the prayers of His people.  Lord  I am praying for the next generation, the youth and children of our world as this pandemic has affected them dramatically in so many ways. Take away the pain of loss and the fear of the unknown from their hearts and minds so that they will experience peace, joy, freedom, love and laughter in their everyday lives. Help us to be role models of your patience, compassion and love to them during these difficult days of Covid! Lord have mercy on us. Lord answer our prayers!

Special thanks to those who have prepared the online prayer meetings today. Your sensitivity to the realities of our world is noted and it has helped many who perhaps, are finding it difficult to pray. Thank you. Thank you. To all our prayer partners, please stay with us as we anticipate the sunset and the reminder of the continuous grace of God across our lands and is renewed every morning.
