Update for live chatters ... Apologies, but will be starting a bit later than usual; hopefully 12:20 ET or so. Will still aim for a full hour of questions. Thanks!
12:24
OK, thanks all ... now let's go
Rick

Vaughn had a great start in Milwaukee, but lately he's back hitting like the old Vaughn which is not a good thing. Do you see anything that makes you believe he will be anything more than replacement value going forward?
Brent Hershey
12:24
No; just depth at this point for rest of season. Will re-eval in offseason
Analyst
12:25
What would you project for Garrett Mitchell next year?  Similar to this year's pre-injury projection of 490 AB, .237-12 HR, 23 SB?  Or a lot less?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Health such an issue; likely will need to build in more injury time (IE, less AB). Skills there for valuable roto guy ... but can't trust the PT is going to be there.
Dave
12:26
Brent, thanks for these chats!  H2H points league and heading into playoffs.  Need to drop one of Lenyn Sosa, Jeff McNeil, or Connor Norby.
Brent Hershey
12:26
Norby; I feel better about the other two's PT

12:27
Who do you like better for next season Dylan Beavers or Jakob Marsee?  Barring an offseason acquisition, both seem set to be starters next year?
Brent Hershey
12:27
Yes, both starters ... Marsee right now is a slight fave. Think he has SB juice that Beavers may not.

Hi Brent,                                          Just a couple questions on my birthday (yes, I was actually born on Labor Day) as we head into September in a tight race (14-team 6x6 mixed roto):             1) 3b/CI (2) Mountcastle, Vientos, Burger                              2) Saves/Holds (4) Munoz, Walker, Romero, Adam, Brash, Jax.                                               3) OF (2) - Dominguez (platoon), Cowser, Crews.                             4) Starters (3) - Misiorowski, Waldrep, McLean, Bradish in order this week and ROS?               Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:29
Happy B-Day!
1) cut (or bench for each of these) Burger
2) cut Jax and ...Brash, I guess?
3) cut Jasson
4) this week: Bradish / Miz / McLean // ROS: Bradish / McLean / Mis / Waldrep

Hey Brent happy Labor day! 4x4 AL only keeper league. 2026 addition . tolle, seymour, messick cecconi and bergert in order please and Barger or vargas thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:31
pitchers mostly the order you have but flip Bergert/Cecconi. And Barger > Vargas

Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5 - I have a few dollars left in FAAB - I will go for Tong but I can and likely will be beat. Are any of these hitters worth a $1 bid?: S Stewart, R Ritter,  A Del Castillo, Crooks, Devanney,  Hassell ?
And is Saalfrank going to close in AZ in 2026?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Stewart and Hassell would be my shots on hitters side. Highly doubt Saalfrank is closing in 2026; feels more like a 'what we got now' fill in.

12:32
4x4 AL only keeper 2026 trevor rogers or kyle bradish! thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:32
Bradish, slightly. Def believe in Rogers, tho.

12:34
Thank you Brent for the chat today. 12tm Roto 5x6 w/Hlds Keeper. For 2026 and beyond could you rank following OF's with any additional thoughts: D.Crews; W.Perez; M.Moniak; T.Grisham; J.Myers; J.Lowe. Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:34
Sorry, won't be able to comment much due to chat volume. But I'd rank Crews / Lowe / Perez / Meyers / Grisham / Moniak. feel better about the top 4 than the last 2 long-term

Good morning Brent!

12-team redraft H2H points league and would like to ask for some guidance for this week only.

2B - Baty/Keaschell/Brooks Lee

Need one of these options
OF/DH - Ian Happ/Mike Yastrzemski (KC has a heavy RHP schedule)/Luis Matos

Need to pick 3 SP from this group (points heavily weighted to wins):

Boyd (has been hit hard last 3 but with a great matchup)
Lorenzen (2 starts but do I want to wager playoffs on him)
Woodruff (last 2 starts seem like a concern)
Spencer Strider (another seemingly scary 2 start pitcher)
Shane Bieber
Joe Ryan
Kershaw
Bradish

Need to pick 1 RP from this group (points heavily weighted to saves:
Cade Smith
Ryan Walker
Bryan Abreu

Appreciate all that you guys do!!!
Brent Hershey
12:36
  1. Baty
  2. Yaz slightly over Matos
  3. Beiber / Ryan / Kershaw
  4. Abreu

Thanks!

Who do you like best for ROS (5x5 QS, head to head playoffs): Alcantara, E. Sheehan, R. Ray, Waldrep? Ray has been a rotation anchor all year but recent outcomes and temporary velo dip have me thinking there’s an injury.
Brent Hershey
12:37
Sandy / Sheehan / Waldrep / Ray (agree on worry here)

12:38
AL only.  Need to drop Cecconi or Bibee... to possibly pick up Tolle.  Please rank all 3 with gaps ROS.
Brent Hershey
12:38
Tolle / Bibee / Cecconi - straightforward ranks for me; no gaps are close

Hi Brent, Gore sometimes looks like a #2 starter, other times a #5. Not sure if he's worth the aggravation to keep. How would you rank him in Dynasty with pitchers like Arrighetti, Bello, Pivetta, Waldrep, and even Trevor Rogers who suddenly looks like the pitcher from a couple of years ago?
Brent Hershey
12:40
Would want (more or less in order) Rogers, Pivetta, Waldrep ahead of Gore for sure (Gore inconsistency is rough). Arighetti/Gore/Bello would be my next 3, though could quibble w that order.

12:41
What is going on with Jordan Lawlar? Hits well in AAA and can't do anything when they bring him up. Do the D Backs push him to play through it or is he being exposed as the next Addison Russell?
Brent Hershey
12:41
Much too early to tell w/ Lawlar in this promotion. Not a good matchup v Dodgers. Give him this month and see 1) how much he plays and 2) what the results are, before too strong of a judgement.

12:43
Hi Brent. In a 5X5 H2H league with OBP instead of AVG, please rank ROS Oneil Cruz, Matt Chapman, Addison Barger, Andrew Vaughn. I think that’s probably the order, but Barger and Cruz have really struggled over the past month or so. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:43
Not on the Cruz wagon at the moment; the vibes are bad. I'd order Chapman/Barger <gap> Cruz/Vaughn. Love Barger, could see him ahead of Chapman and not blink

Happy Labor Day. Trying to get some pitching points via Wins and Ks but can’t afford enough week of blowups. 5x5 with Solds, would you start Brash or Devin Williams ahead of any of these starters — Ray, Cavialli, Kickuchi, Castillo, Berrios, Bryce Miller, Suarez?
Brent Hershey
12:45
Assuming Suarez is Ranger, that's the only SP I'd want over either of those RP if protecting ratios was my goal. Possibly Berrios/Miller if W/Ks are essential.

Hi Brent,

In my AL-only Scoresheet team I am presently one game out of first place in my division.  Assuming good fortune comes my way and I make the playoffs, I need to assemble a four-man rotation from this group:

Crochet (obvious choice)

S Gray (current and projected BPV say he's my #2)

L Castillo (solid YTD surface and peripheral numbers but over last 30 days has a 6.66 ERA.  Projected xERA for balance of season is 3.69)

Jose Soriano (current and projected xERA around 3.30)

Troy Melton (has started three games this year.  Will Hinch give him additional starts given Paddock's troubles or does he stay in the pen?)

Do the rest-of-projections on the player's page take into account a team's remaining schedule?
Please help.  Your advice so far has proven invaluable.
Brent Hershey
12:49
I'd line it up Crochet / Gray / Soriano / Melton / Castillo. Melton is so good on an IP-basis, just take that shot that he gets some Sept starts. If not, Castillo not the worst. Soriano coming on in 2H (better control) ... if that continues, he'll should be a servicable #3 in the playoffs. ROS projections are not adjusted for opponents, no. No way to account for so much variance; skills are the foundation for projections.

Burger coming back, have Vaughn at 1b. (4x4) need Taters and RBI’s. Hoskins coming back soon, Vaughn has cooled. Burger didn’t even play rehab MILB games. No sure thing, but where do you lean?
Brent Hershey
12:50
Rough. Burger has been streaky; in your case I think you pop him in and hope for a hot one. Hoskins next, then Vaughn

Thanks for these chats, Brent, especially on the holidays. I am tied for first in a mixed 12-team 8x8 redraft with DAILY MOVES where we score the 3 additional cats of OBP, SLG, and K, and just cut Teoscar for Joc Pederson (Teoscar has been brutal). Was that the right move? Or should I replace Joc with Yaz (see today’s BPV column).  Is this ROS ranking correct: Joc > L. Matos > Yaz > Teoscar.
Brent Hershey
12:52
Right move for this week at least. I think you have to play it week by week now. Also love Matos series in COL for sure; and Yaz has a good week set up, too. Good luck!
