Breaking news, haha! Yeah, that could be more prudent for you, as it all depends on what could be coming out for you next week. And with PCA, that might fit your team better.

What kind of playing time should we expect from Aaron Hicks going forward?
Brent Hershey
12:37
Probably similar to this week; 6G out of 7 or so. Could be a sneaky add or play

What are your feelings on Mason Miller in the future? Must have or do the injuries scare you away?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Not a must-have b/c of the injuries. I'd roster just knowing the risk. Additional downside is that b/c he's throw SO few innings, will take a couple seasons to where you're comfortable with him as a full timer. Which just means a longer runway to get hurt again. Gonna be a fascinating offseason convo about him if he makes it though last 3 weeks unscathed.

Thanks for the chats, Brent.  Pivetta is now back in the BoSox rotation and may get 2 starts (although he's not listed in the Double Dipping column).  For this week only, do you like Pivetta (NYY/@TOR) or Woo (LAA)?  I need K's and W's but have to keep an eye on ERA.
Brent Hershey
12:40
Slight edge to Pivetta in this case, yes.

In a 5x5, Evan Carter or Jesus Sanchez? All categories in play in a very tight race.
Brent Hershey

I'd lean Sanchez due to experience, but be aware he's in a hard platoon. Just 3 of next 13 G against, LHP for MIA, tho.

Hey Brent.  Jake McCarthy is swinging the bat really well in Reno.  Can he reclaim his role as a full-time starter with the D-Backs in 2024?
Brent Hershey

He's done this before, but curious to me that he's not at the MLB level here during the race. Starting to wonder if he's on the outside looking in of that OF group in ARI.

10-tm H2H category in 2nd round. Pitching will decide. Which two would you bench or drop this week … Morton; Gavin Williams; Peralta; Skubal; Eury Perez; Bobby Miller; Javier; Pepiot; Kyle Harrison; Bryce Miller; Bibee?  Thanks!

Javier and Bryce Miller

Will Crow-Armstrong have an impact in his time up?
Brent Hershey
12:46
I think it's possible, yes. His defensive value could help him squeeze into the lineup, and the bat seems ready. Could be one of the better overall hitters on that club in short order (next season, not this one). But that give him a chance this year to start strong IMO.

Why is Ohtani not shut down yet? What does he have to gain? Each day he waits for surgery is another game he may miss next year.

Stats for his end of season Awards. I don't think we know enough about what his future may hold (dual roles or not).

Follow up on the pitchers stats last 30 days, is there a place to view all like we can for YTD or projections?
Brent Hershey
12:49
YTD projection files include L31 for all (scroll to the right). Can view these on the site, or download the .csv file for yourself.

Hey Brent! Missed you last week. What is the point at which you believe a player has gone from this is an upward potential blip in their output to its a breakout.
Brent Hershey
12:54
Tough to pin down, and different things come at different "paces" ... but I like to see roughly a half-season of sustained skill at the MLB level as a starting point. Results that "match" that skill over the same time period is best. And then it's just filling in the narratives to try and determine when to fully "believe" in a player (?) -- narratives such as MiLB history; anything you can find out about a player's ability to adjust (pitch mix changes; improving plate approach, etc); team context (does manager play this guy enough?), those types of things. Attempting to properly weight all of that is what makes this fun for me ... and I'm often wrong, or need to re-adjust my expectation several times during a season or stretch or whatever.

Gather info.Try to make informed decisions. Be open to adjust. Hope this helps ... good luck and great question!

Got to all the specific questions; so a great place to stop for this week. Thanks so much again for showing up and for you part in this forum. We'll do it again next week, as the season winds down. Best to you all in the stretch run and playoffs! Talk to you next Monday!
