Happy Labor Day! And happy final four weeks of the season. Hope these games matter for you. Nice group of questions in the queue; let's get to em!

Hi Brent,
Thanks for answering this question. 16 team H2H points auction (slow) league. We start 23 players with a 17 player reserve. $430 salary cap. Looking towards 2025 (out of playoffs now).

We can only start 5 SPs weekly. I roster Bibee, Valdez, Gavin Williams, Bobby Miller, Yu Darvish, Ed. Cabrera, Boyd, C. Scott, Woo and Buehler.

Having trouble deciding whether to keep Civale At $9 (probably). Tried to shop him - no takers. Yet given injuries and the benefits of maxing double starts, you can't have too many SPs available.

My temptation is to keep him. I have more than enough salary cap to do so. The issue is that I have absolutely zero confidence in starting him despite the occasional gem he throws.

Thoughts? And thanks again.

Trying to wrap my head around the rules here, but to me Civale is a clear #11 out of that SP group ... especially if next year is the focus. Seems like even in a league like this, if you cut Civale now, he'd be the type of player you could pick up for more depth in next year's auction. Don't think I'd fret over cutting him loose at this point.

AL only 4x4 keeper league. 2025  Slaten or Berroa, Deluca or Moniak..Melendez or Horwitz, Renfroe or Ward, Uceta or Joyce, Thank you! Happy Labor day!
Brent Hershey
12:10
Backacha, Will ... for 2024, I'd go:
-Slaten, though it's close and Berroa's upside is higher. So tough to make spec closer calls for 2025 right now.
-DeLuca
-Melendez (2H is pulling me in ... again :-) )
-Ward
-Joyce (Uceta could be better pitcher, but I have more confidence in Joyce's 2025 role for saves than Uceta)

Good day - 5x5 with 16 team mixed obp Rizzo or Santana, Tatis or Varsho, two start ERod or Simeon Wood? Trying to get into the money HR and R, W and K keys. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:14
Not sure if this is for this week or this year, so...
This week: Rizzo, Varsho, SWR
ROS: Rizzo, Tatis, SWR

Our ratings model doesn't like either SP this week that much, but ERod's vLA; @HOU a pretty tough duo if wins are key. Good luck!

What do U expect from Michael Harris in 2025? Additionally, Brent, What is your take on the recent exciting performance of Crow-Anderson? Thanx!
Brent Hershey
12:21
Harris has athleticism, youth and AB-saving defense to project he'll get back on the track of what we saw in 2023: a plus-BA (280-ish) with 20 HR/20 SB baseline with some growth potential. Would make sense that his numbers could explode further if he hit near top of lineup, but when ATL gets everyone back, he's prob more of a #5/#6 place hitter at best.

PCA - things coming together more quickly than expected here in 2H; great to see him adjusting. Another guy whose defense is going to assure him AB ... and if AB like these continue, one has to figure he's a top-of-the-lineup guy at some point in 2025. Bright future.

Hi Brent. In a 5X5 H2H OBP league, which player would you cut when Christian Walker comes off the IL: Friedl, PCA, Josh Lowe, James Wood, Lawrence Butler, or Tyler O'Neill?
Brent Hershey
12:25
Friedl, and fairly easily. Still agree with our Forecaster comment that 2023 was his ceiling -- just doesn't hit the ball hard enough right now. All the other have some sort of fantasy juice that Friedl lacks.

NL only:  DLHall, BLowder or JWicks ROS rank?
Brent Hershey
12:27
Wicks / Lowder / Hall. Excitement for stuff goes in the opposite order, as does risk factor. But Wicks going to be most consistent through the end of the season.

Hi Brent. H2H weekly points league. Jared Jones with the double dip or Bryan Woo vs the A’s?  Thank you and enjoy your holiday!
Brent Hershey
12:29
You, too Kevin!

Love Woo, but A's can slug it some and the two-step for Jones  is a winner in this case.

NL only, saves/holds:  Holderman, Mantiply, NPearson rank please.
Brent Hershey
12:31
Rest of season: Mantiply, Pearson, Holderman. Gotta have wins to get holds.

Do you think deGrom will pitch long enough to get any wins in the last 3 weeks?
Brent Hershey
12:33
For normal pitchers on a rehab like this, I'd lean no ... but deGrom is such a freak it really could be possible that TEX lets him go long enough for a W or two.
Bob
12:36
Do you think Tucker will be swinging for the fences so he won't have to run the bases?
Brent Hershey
12:36
I do not (follow this logic, anyway). Is there a chance he doesn't run (SB) much once he returns? Possibly ... whole thing has been so weird.

Thanks for the holiday chat. Several weeks ago, threw a cheap FAAB dart at Kyle Stowers, Recently, he has perked up a bit. With Miami being land of opportunity, is he a 20-25 HR bat close to emerging, or will swing and miss profile limit the upside?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Ultimately, I think the latter. BUT, players can change; maybe that's something he works on over the winter. Opportunity is definitely there. More likely, he is what we've seen so far: a power hitter who is very streaky.

Good afternoon and thanks for heping ....two parts                      1 pick two this week and ROS  A Rizzo, W Langford , C Keith, N Jones, C Mayo...or drop one for J Walker or MJ melendez     2 can move up in both wins and saves...two spots Pepiot plus one closer or go with two closers this week ..which two Erceg, Chapman, E Phillips, A Diaz, M Rodriguez,
Brent Hershey
12:43
  1. Keith and Langford. Short-term, would prefer MJ Melendez this week (tons of RHP) to Nolan Jones
  2. We have a good # on Pepiot this week, but @BAL personally gives me some pause. I'm passing on Erceg until I know for sure he's OK. Probably Phillips and Diaz if you go 2 CL. Pepiot/Phillips I guess if 1 of each. Diaz of course safer role, but don't love the matchups this week.

Just wanted to say that, after making the playoffs in my H2H Points League by the skin of my teeth, I've advanced to the second round. Couldn't have come this far without all the guidance of HQ. Thanks for all the great content.

Love to hear this; appreciate that. Congrats!

Brent Hershey
12:45
Nootbaar, Norby and ... Stowers just barely over France.

Week 2 of my two-week H2H points playoff matchup. Need 1 OF out of J Lowe, Yoshida, and Wallner. Also, need 1 SP out of Arrighetti or Springs
Brent Hershey
12:49
Josh Lowe is coming off a great week, can contribute in a lot of ways, and has 7 RHP on the docket. Wallner runner up

Pitcher -- I'd roll w/ Arrighetti though it's close. Better potential for a win @CIN than Springs vMIN

Looking to offseason .. is Curtis Mead an ML keeper (8 ML keepers, 3 minors keepers) in mixed 16 team 10 pitchers with obp league. Thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:50
No, unless he gets moved to a team where he'll have an everyday job -- and even then it's debatable. Context matters in this case, and Rays have so many IF options as it stand right now.

Hi!Hit w injuries, in 12-tm H2H categories, fighting for playoffs! For this week, more offensive help from which two … Parker Meadows, Ramon Laureano, MJ Melendez, M Vierling, Espinal or Horowitz?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Melendez (as mentioned, lotsa RHP) and Meadows. 5G week kills Horwitz. Get AB.
Johnny Dickshot
12:54
Is Kirby hiding an injury? He's been awful this month
Brent Hershey
12:54
Have no idea ... and of course if he's hiding it, we wouldn't know :-)

Skills slipped a little in Aug, but not in concert w/ results. Hit/Strand rates doing A LOT of damage. The calendar has turned ... maybe that's what he needs? Tough call ... good luck!
Brent Hershey

Cleaned 'er out, so that's where we'll end. Thanks all for the Qs on a holiday. Will return next Monday as always as we start to wind the season down. Talk to ya then!
