Chatters! One last in-season talk; thanks so much upfront for your continued interest and questions. Not a ton in the queue today, so should be able to get to them all. Let's get rolling ...

well Brent. its been a heck of a season. one last question please. 4x4 AL only keeper league all under $7. right now..2026 SP in order please thank you for all the help this year. bibee, schittler ,cecconi morales. messick and my own sleeper t. melton we all appreciate your time knowledge and expertise. ps. if you could help out the GM  of my orioles that would be great!
Brent Hershey
12:07
Thanks, Will! My 2026 order would be Bibee, Schlittler, Melton (agree!), Morales, Cecconi, Messick

Could swap Bibee/Schlittler, as not really sure what to do with Bibee and Schlitt has been impressive. Would be really interested to see Melton get a rotation shot early on or at some point in 2026; they've seemed to manage the breaking-in process well in these last few months for him.

Hi Brent, For First Basemen In a Dynasty League, would you rather have: Schanuel (seems to be a solid hitter, but not sure if he will develop reasonable power) or Mayo (has the power, but may never hitttt)?
Brent Hershey
12:09
Can see the case for both ...I'd probably lean Schanuel, as this year he hit for more pop than anticipated, and has the one proven foundational skill (hit tool) to build on. Mayo would have the higher ceiling if he can get there, but if or how long that takes could be the issue.

I was in the process of changing some wording on my last question and hit enter to soon. Hopefully it was ok as is. Regardless, thanks for everything this past year. This is my favorite fantasy baseball chat out there! Have a great offseason if in fact you actually have an offseason :)
Brent Hershey
12:11
Thanks, Rick ... the "offseason" starts for me once our two books are finished in early January. Much to do before then ... :-)
Only Leagues

5x5 leagues, one in AL and one in NL, have a shot in both. In AL, there is upside in HR and RBI. Need to play two of Bo Naylor, Yanier Diaz, Carter Jansen. Toss a coin or is there an obvious call? In NL, will Blake Perkins get PT this week, steal a couple of bases as a result? Will Yelich sit? Of the two, who would you play this week?
Brent Hershey
12:15
AL - Yanier for sure; the call is between Naylor and Jensen. Would likely lean Jensen, as the taste of Naylor's overall season lingers -- even though recently it's been better.
NL - Boy, not guarantees, but I'd still run with Yelich, I think. Just going to be a crazy week (for everyone, though, remember)

Who is a better dynasty catcher in OPS format: Logan O'Hoppe or Carlos Narvaez? O'Hoppe's second half swoons are prompting me to ask the question. Thanks for these chats!
Brent Hershey
12:17
I'd stick with O'Hoppe. Feel like he has a longer leash to improve and figure it out and the power is there for sure. I'm also a bit concerned with his season overall, but still would be my choice here.

Thanks for your help all season...have a shot at 2nd and outside at 1st...2pts out of 2nd $$$...its an 8x8 league..                i can move up Avg(very close), RBI and SB ...avg/rbi close to 2nd place team....pick one 2B Baty, L Garcia, A Martin   pick 2 of/dh L Butler, Langford, J Burger, C Simpson, Boegerts, K Stowers.....pitching side is wins i can gain a point...Elder or Woo......thanks so much!!
Brent Hershey
12:19
A) Martin slightly over Baty
B) Butler and Simpson
C) Ugh ... Elder; mainly b/c just not sure SEA will push it with Woo

Good luck!

5x5 roto league. need hr, rbi & runs. in your opinion who provides a better opportunity? Mayo bal. Norby mia. martin minn. Thanks for your help you are the BEST! Really appreciate what your do for us fantasy players.
Brent Hershey
12:21
Not Martin in this case given the power needs. So, likely Mayo over Norby

Hey Brent, Thank you so much for all of your help this season!  Thanks to your advice and the research of HQ, I am currently in 1st by 1 point with one week left in my NL-only 10 team keeper league.  I need some additional speed for the last week (tied with two other teams for SBs).  Who do you think are the best bets to get an SB or 2 this last week: Dane Myers, Blake Perkins, Jacob Young, or Jake Bauers?  Should I start any of these guys over Bryan Reynolds?
Brent Hershey
12:25
I'd go Perkins out of that list if you're solely hunting SBs. And yeah, if that's the case, think he would be a better shot than Reynolds for that outcome. Just one example of the crazy last-week plays ... as you all set lineups, this is the week you might do something out of the ordinary for those really close races.

No question, just a big thank you to you and Ray for the weekly chats.

Of course! Fun hours for us for sure. Enjoy the offseason!

Good morning Brent! Thank you for these chats, they are extremely helpful. If I had to determine my keepers list today, which 3 would you choose among : busch butler Langford frelick edwards rasmussen alcantara bradish waldrep? With Acuna witt j-ramirez skubal already on my keeper’s list,I am leaning toward langford alcantara and bradish. Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:31
Alcantara and Bradish for sure; think the third comes down to Butler v Langford. Langford prob edges it out. Fun squad!

Thanks so much for doing this all year. Need wins but solds helpful maybe. Dare I start Bryce Miller or Kikuchi or Berrios or Lorenzon or Wacha or Bradley. Have to start at least two of them. On offense, Burger or Kayfus? Jesus Sanchez or Adell? Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:37
SP: Miller plus ... Lorenzen?  Would not want Wacha in Sacramento. I guess Kikuchi could rebound, but KC swinging well recently.
BATS: Burger and Adell. Kayfus just not proven; Sanchez gets a bunch of lefties.
Brent Hershey
12:38
Have the queue caught up; will hang around for another 5 mins or so in case anything else comes up ...

12:46
One last question, looking for a random win.  Any hope that Oviedo, Freeland, or Buehler would be an okay start?
Brent Hershey
12:46
Would go with team context, so Buehler first (might be a follower, but for a win shot that's OK), then Ovideo.

12:48
Need wins this week, so need to drop a reliever for a starter. two questions:
  1. should I hang onto Ferrer as he may be presumptive closer next year? do you agree he is presumptive closer?
  2. please order Wentz vs. Pitt, T walker vs. Miami, Teng vs. Colorado.
Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:48
  1. Yes, I'd think Ferrer has to be the fave right now. Not impossible, but think it's unlikely they go outside the org for a FA reliever.
  2. The order you have them is where I'd come out. Long-shots, but that's what this week is for.
Brent Hershey

Alright, gonna wrap here ... Folks setting lineups: just do your best with the info you have; always gets crazy especially the last weekend, so expect chaos! And best of luck (it's needed) through this week. Cool to help so many and chat throughout the season. We should have a few offseason chats for sure and then get cranked up again shortly after the New Year. Appreciate you all ... tap me at First Pitch Arizona if you'll be there, and we'll talk soon!
