182 constituencies are up for grabs in the Western state while 68 constituencies are going under the ballot in Himachal. The exit polls predictions hinted that BJP is set to form government in Gujarat for the seventh consecutive time. It also estimated BJP will win in Himachal Pradesh but by a smaller margin.

Congress is said to be the main challenger of the saffron party in both states. AAP is likely to take the third spot.

The latest update in Gujarat shows the ruling party taking a massive lead on Congress. From 182 seats, BJP leads in 139, the Congress on 32, AAP on 7 and Others on 4.

BJP takes lead in the Umreth constituency of Anand district as former MLA and Gujarat NCP Chief Jayant Patel (Boskey) trails. BJP's seven-term sitting MLA Yogesh Patel leads in Vadodara city's Manjalpur constituency by 9,000 votes.

So far it has been a neck-and-neck race in Himachal Pradesh. While the BJP hopes to eventually pull ahead and make history by breaking the state's tradition of voting out the incumbent, the Congress will be desperate to have at least one more state under its belt.

In Gujarat, BJP's Mahesh Bhuriya leads in Jhalod (ST) constituency with 8,713 votes while Congress's Mitesh Garasiya has bagged 3,059 votes at end of Round 3.

Of the 110 seats for which trends were out, Aam Aadmi Party is at second place on 18 seats, many of them Patidar major seats like Jetpur, Dhoraji, Kamrej, Karanj and Nikol. In Viramgam, Hardik Patel was leading by just 422 votes against AAP candidate Amarsinh Thakor.

At the end of Round 2, a big fight is underway at Waghodia Assembly constituency of Vadodara where BJP has two rebel candidates, including six term sitting MLA Madhu Shrivastava. BJP's Ashwin Patel who trails with 6,882 votes as rebel candidate Dharmendrasinh Vaghela leads with 9,193 votes. Shrivastava has only 1,231 votes so far.

In Gujarat, BJP's Darshana Deshmukh leads by a big margin of 8,510 votes from Nandod (ST) Assembly constituency. In Dediapada (ST) constituency in Narmada district, AAP's Chaitar Vasava is ahead by 4,990 votes.
