WOOF. NFL son on NFL son violence.

Frank Gore Jr. breaks the ankles of former Steelers TE's son Carson Bruener on a pass to the flat. Has to break down earlier and force Gore to the sideline.
7:56
TOUCHDOWN: Frank Gore Jr. finishes the drive with a 1-yard plunge up the middle.

Drive: 6 plays, 34 yards, 2:40.

Steelers 14, Bills 10. 9:19, Q2.

Bruener got used in open space there.

I gotta be honest, I don't know what Kaden Wetjen does that makes him rosterable unless they really think he's going to break some returns this year.

I just feel like if Ben Skowronek is healthy, they'd be better served giving Brandon Smith that spot as he's a better WR threat.
Max Iheanachor is in the game at RT!

I honestly don’t know what kind or offense or defense we’re gonna see this year. But do know it’s not what we are seeing.

Whose fault was that on the interception the receiver or Howard?
Christopher Carter
8:00
Both. I'd say they need to be on the same page. But I just don't think Howard should've made that throw even if the TE stayed on the route he thought they should've.

Don’t think I’d trust Howard to be #2 no matter whose fault that was
Christopher Carter
8:01
Which is why I've been saying for months that Mason Rudolph's job is most likely safe.
Some solid throws over the middle for Will Howard help the Steelers convert after a false start moved the drive back. Brandon Smith does a good job getting open on the slant.

Really like Brandon Johnson.

Chris do you think Rodgers goes above and beyond to “mentor” Howard and Drew or just the bare minimum. Seems like he’d be an incredible influence specifically with regards to reading/understanding coverages.
Christopher Carter
8:02
I won't say I've seen above and beyond, but I do think he's been a good mentor to them. I don't think he's waking them up in the morning and forcing them to go through any extensive process or anything that's like a Rodgers QB camp lol.

But I've seen him be a resource all through camp and that's what you'd want.

Howard isn't helping himself tonight.

agree about Wetjen

Don’t like the body language of Howard.
Brent
8:03
There's no way they can put Howard in front of Rudolph
Christopher Carter
8:03
Brent, I think that ship sailed about a month ago.

So Chris, where do you see the Steelers finishing in the AFC north?
Christopher Carter
8:04
I'm seeing 2nd. I just think one of the Ravens or Bengals will have a good year. But I still see this team as a playoff team. Can even win 11 games if they handle this schedule right.
8:05
Will Howard tries to do what he can, but he's sacked. Didn't look like there was much there, so good on him for not turning it into a turnover from forcing it.

What will be the ripple effect of restructuring DK,
Christopher Carter
8:05
I think that was their move to create some wiggle space just for this season to maybe get a vet if they want or make emergency moves.

But it's not a move that helps the Porter deal because the space freed up impacts this year and not future years, where Porter's deal would impact.

What would my fellow Lebo graduate Eli need to do to make the practice squad?
Christopher Carter
8:06
Keep working hard on special teams. I think he'll make that, no sweat.
Steeltown

It seems like Howard is a little bit lost when his first read is not there. He’s not the most elusive guy either.
Christopher Carter
8:06
That's been my hangup on him for a bit.
8:07
Just saw a Gennings Dunker pass pro rep on replay and my goodness it was bad.
8:10
Wow. Good call out for Pomp to recognize Mike Tomczak's son, Max.

I'm starting to understand what my parents felt like seeing my generation grow up when I see Frank Gore Jr., Mark Bruener's son and Mike Tomczak's son all playing in the same game lol.

can we sit Elandon already?  whats the risk for now
Christopher Carter
8:10
I agree. Just let him sit. They've got other guys for that.
Ken
8:11
Sure hope they don't have a losing season.
Christopher Carter
8:12
I think they should be safe from that still. This is a better roster than last year in my opinion and the added experience of the young stars that helped last season should help them along.
JeffB

Is Malik Harrison alive? I suspect he’s a goner by Sunday.
Christopher Carter
8:12
Jeff, that man has been a cut man walking since they signed Roberts. Heck, even before that it didn't look good.
Brent
8:13
Do you think all the moving around of the O-line is having a negative effect on the starters? Seems like they need to play together at least a little bit
Christopher Carter
8:13
I think if it's done as a yearly-assignment, it's fine. Like if a player knows he's going into the season being a LT when he was RT last year, that's doable.

But the flipping them around all season? That can be a problem.
8:14
Woof. Max Iheanachor is absolutely smoked and Will Howard pays for it.
The sack kills the drive and the Steelers will punt.

Max Iheanachor with not a good look there. He hasn't looked impressive in the snaps I've seen so far.
