There have to be experts out there--sports psychologists, leadership gurus, whatever--whom the Steelers need to consult with in depth in the offseason to address their inability to start games strong and play consistently regardless of the level of competition.  I'm serious--it's pathological at this point.  We all see it, and it's been going on for years.

Explain to me how we can let Ben walk with the cap number.
Brian Batko

They wouldn't be letting him walk, they'd be cutting him. And yes, it would cost them more than $22 million in dead money, but it would also save $19 million. So, to me, it's a very reasonable thing to consider.

Steelers came out flat as a pancake and that is on Tomlin and his staff

Tell “ Dancing JuJu” maybe they aren’t the same old Browns!

For all these fans saying Ben is too old, I would rather have him than Mason, Bubby Brister, Tommy Maddox or Kordell

This CHAT was way more interesting than the game!!!

I agree. We had some trolls, some nice people, some cynics, some hopeless optimists, participants of all sorts.

If this was Ju Ju’s last game as a Steeler, I will miss his hard nose style and big plays

Juju playing his way out of Pittsburgh tonight with a great game. I don’t know if you can sign him. With the salary cap going down what can you do? Ben is going to kill us with his salary. If they cut him and they will save $20 million. Unless you sign him to another three years and spread out the bonus again and push it on down the road.
Brian Batko

Yes, that's another possibility with the QB, who certainly faded down the stretch.

Slash!  Thanks for doing these chats BB!

This game's gonna be great for Ben's playoff statistics down the road.
11:35
Touchdown, Chase Claypool, now has two in his first career postseason game. Two-point conversion is...oh my word, they got it! They converted a 2-point try!

Browns 48, Steelers 37 with 1:09 left.

Game not as close as the score

Ben has set the record for most completions in an NFL game. Not really sure what to do with this information.

So long and thanks for all the meaningless touchdowns. Reminds me of the Jaguars game.

And Steelers not half as good as their record.

Ben just set a playoff record for completions
Brian Batko
11:38
Amazingly, that's the record for ANY game.
And now Ben is getting meme'd into oblivion by sitting on the bench alone like that. I hate the Internet.

I get more comments posted once games are out of reach. I’m a mop up chatter I guess. Thanks for all the chats this year BB

Yeah, let's end on that.

Final: Browns 48, Steelers 37. Pittsburgh bows out in the first round of the playoffs after making it for the first time in three years. A lousy end to a year that started with so much promise. Thanks to all who followed along with our game day chats, a new feature on the site this season. The participation was off the charts, so much so that I often got scolded for not posting more comments. I'm off to the "locker room," virtual of course, for postgame interviews. Goodnight.
