Welcome to tonight's live game chat against the Chargers. Post your questions and Brian and I will answer them in the two hours leading up to kickoff. Paul Zeise takes over at kickoff.

Hello from LA!
Josh
6:27
With the ravens keeping the pressure on the Steelers with their win today, who do you see leading this division come December 1st?
Brian Batko
6:28
I'll go with the Ravens, Josh
Ray Fittipaldo
6:30
Well, the Ravens have the Browns, Jets and Bengals while the Steelers have the Chargers, Bengals, Bears and Bills. If the Ravens win all three they'll be 7-5 entering December. Let's say the Steelers go 2-2 they'd also be 7-5. That would set up what would become big game Sunday Dec. 7 in Baltimore.

How well are the Steelers represented in the stands?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:31
Fans just starting to trickle in now, but early indications signal a black and gold takeover.
Brian Batko
6:33
So many around town. I've been all over L.A. in the last 24 hours and Steelers fans are everywhere. Clippers game, Manhattan Beach, and my friend who lives in Venice said he's seen them out and about all weekend.

Is SoFi as cool as it seems?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:35
I think it's a great venue. It's in Inglewood by the old Fabulous Forum for any Lakers fans out there. Clippers arena nearby too.
Brian Batko
6:39
Inactives will come out in about 15 minutes. Gotta go with my weekly guesses: Scooter Miller, Isaac Seumalo, Logan Lee, Brodric Martin, Cole Holcomb, Jabrill Peppers.

how does acisure compare to sofi?
Brian Batko
6:40
It's pretty tough to compare domes to outdoor venues (albeit SoFi isn't entirely enclosed) not to mention one of the newest stadiums in the league. But for my money, SoFi is the best I've been in. Lots of people praise Minnesota's but I haven't gotten there yet.

Tomlin spoke a lot about the damage Herbert can do with his legs, how do they go about keeping him contained but also trying to combat the chargers passing game?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:43
The Steelers could spy with Payton Wilson if they wanted to do that. Patrick Queen might be able to handle that assignment too. But the most important thing is the front staying in their rush gaps. They cannot allow Herbert easy escape lanes. The last time the Steelers were out here in 2021 Herbert killed them with long runs.

Brian and Ray, the oddsmakers have the Chargers by 3.5, and a case can be made for this outcome. Seems to me the key will be the defense stopping the run and then getting after Herbert, who is a top 5 QB so far this season. This coupled with the offense getting its run game working. Do you think Rodgers will target TEs of other receivers in the middle of the field this game? Seems like it could help keep drives going if the run game doesn't drive them down the field...
Brian Batko
6:46
Yes, I think he'll be trying to get the ball out fast against this pass rush and hoping his receivers either find soft spots over the middle or get some YAC. Aaron Rodgers has been throwing short and quick all season, so while I suppose they'll need to find a downfield passing game again eventually, not sure it'll be tonight. DK Metcalf on a slant can be just as dangerous as DK Metcalf on a go route.

Did either of you watch any practices? Impressions and prediction? Thanks for chatting! Helps feeling connected to Steeler Nation!
Ray Fittipaldo
6:48
My prediction: Chargers 28, Steelers 24.
Brian Batko
6:50
Yes I watch practice most of the time. We can't report exactly what we see, per team rules, but what we watch informs our writing, commentary, etc. Just remember that.

At the beginning of this season, I would’ve said Pat Meyer would’ve been the first person fired in January, now I’m not so sure. Fautanu looks great, Frazier, McCormick, Jones, they all seem to be holding their own. Not saying they’re the best in the league by any means but being a young unit outside of Seumalo, I would color myself surprised right now. Can you guys see the Steelers retaining Meyer if we see an upwards trend with the o-line the rest of the way?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:52
Kind of early to make predictions on staff changes, but the line is starting to come together. I'd like to see more consistency overall especially with the run game. The pass pro has been pretty good all season save for the opener against the Jets. And most of those were on Broderick Jones.
6:53
Here are the inactives for tonight's game:
No. 13 WR Scotty Miller
No. 40 S Jabrill Peppers
No. 55 LB Cole Holcomb
No. 73 OL Isaac Seumalo
No. 78 DT Brodric Martin-Rhodes
No. 91 DL Logan Lee

Ray who wins tonight i think the Steelers win

I got the Chargers, but I think it will be high scoring and entertaining.

Thoughts on Derrick Harmon? It doesn’t seem like he’s been an “impact” player yet. I think he’s going through a lot- losing his mother and having high expectations in the NFL at an age when  Will be become one? This season?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:01
Harmon is having a good rookie season. He had some bad luck with the injury in August and got a late start, but he's been impactful.

It appears that Troy Fautanu has locked down the RT spot for years to come.  Has Broderick Jones shown enough this season to lock down the LT position next season and beyond?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:14
He's played a little better in recent games. Big decision coming in the spring on his fifth-year option. It would make their lives so much easier if he showed signs of being a franchise left tackle the rest of the season.

Is Will the QB active tonite?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:20
Will Howard remains on IR. I believe they have until Tuesday to decide if he's going to stay on IR for the remainder of the season or be activated to the 53-man roster. His 21-day practice window was opened on Oct. 21.

Good evening, Ray and Brian. Thanks for the chat. with Seamolu out are we still going to be able to go jumbo run package?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:21
Yes. That's why Andrus Peat is active for the first time tonight.

I’ll be plugging in my antenna soon thanks to the greed of Disney and YouTube TV. I’m thinking that ESPN is trying to negotiate a contract too high for YouTube TV to try to get us to buy their app. It’s just a constant money grab for a sports fans.

The game is on NBC so....

Could I get your thoughts on PQ's play this year. I haven't been very impressed by what I've seen. But, maybe I'm wrong.
Brian Batko
7:28
Not overly impressive, no. Too many missed tackles and blown assignments. Or at least what appear to be blown assignments, given that we never truly know a player's responsibility a lot of the time.

If you were making the Steelers offensive game plan tonight how much would you lean on the running game and what else would you have up your sleeve?
Brian Batko
7:31
Underrated story line tonight is Spencer Anderson getting the start in place of Seumalo. Chargers have not been particularly stout against the run so far this season but I can't imagine a Jim Harbaugh-coached team being that way for long.
