Merry Christmas to all! I'm getting the chat fired up. Will post inactives in a moment.
11:37
Today's Steelers inactives:  QB Justin Fields (3rd QB)
WR Ben Skowronek
CB Joey Porter Jr.
LB Preston Smith
DE Dean Lowry
Smith is a bit of a surprise here. He had been active for every game since being acquired in a trade with the Packers at the trade deadline.
11:38
Also, Lowry started last week and only recorded one tackle.

Is it better to lose out and start the rebuild then to continue with this dream of we’re a Super Bowl team when we aren’t close?  I’m I the only fan that’s hates getting embarrassed in a one and done playoff game?  If all we want is a winning record then all is good and don’t change anything.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:40
Tom, they're in the playoffs! The rebuild can wait until February. Anything can happen once the tournament starts. And they're a bit healthier now it appears than they have been. The only injured players missing today's game are Joey Porter Jr. and Ben Skowronek. Both were injured in Saturday's game against the Ravens.

Merry Christmas Ray. I can see sitting Lowery. He was ineffective. Was Smith ineffective as well?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:42
Apparently. He was not on the injury report this week and did not have a status for the game. Jeremiah Moon is the fourth OLB. He also plays special teams.

Has Watt's ankle improved? Certainly did not have his usual burst last Saturday. Makes the Smith move even more curious.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:43
Right. It must be fine. Lots of guys have sprained ankles this time of the year. He'll be dealing with the discomfort for the rest of the season I am guessing. Tape it up and play, but I agree he did not have his usual burst versus the Ravens.

most importantly .. will Taylor Swift be there today? Does porters injury appear to be long term? Merry Christmas
Ray Fittipaldo
11:45
Hard to say but Tomlin pretty much ruled him out on Sunday. The good thing is he'll have 10 days after today before the Bengals game.

Did Russ get an easy bake oven to cook with today?  He needs to cook up some points.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:46
Cook up some points and stop carrying that ball like a loaf of bread when he's running.

RF thanks for ‘working’ today. Good luck with all this chatter. Merry Christmas

Ray, as you usually do every week, talk me off the ledge.  As much as people mistakenly think Porter isnt good, I strongly differ.  Will they pick on Trice/Pierre all day?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:52
Well, at least Donte Jackson is active. We'll see how long he can play. His back has been an issue for the past month or so. But Jackson will start and Pierre and Trice will rotate. Teryl Austin indicated the other day whoever has the hot hand will remain in the game.

I hope Pickens is fully healthy again, but I'm still baffled by the continuous non-use of Muth. Why?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:55
Wilson likes to spread the ball around. If you're not named George Pickens I don't think you're going to get a ton of targets. I and a lot of others think that should change, but  it doesn't seem like it's a focus for Russ or Arthur Smith.

11:56
Should the Steers rest Russ next week if they lose today?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:57
No. Neither the Steelers or Ravens can clinch anything this week. The Week 18 games will matter. Steelers-Bengals and Ravens-Browns. Everyone who is healthy will play because the division will be on the line.

Hey everyone, Merry Christmas. I got here a little later than usual but I can confidently say the tailgating lots, parking and traffic are much lighter than they'd typically be, especially for facing the Chiefs. But we know the NFL doesn't really care about the gate today. There will be tens of millions of viewers watching around the world, of course.

You think Netflix will survive today?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:05
If you're in Pittsburgh you don't have to worry about it. It's on locally on Channel 2. But yeah, if you're out of town you're hoping for a buffering-free stream.
David
12:05
If you had to pick an unlikely hero for the Steelers in a win today, who ya got?
Brian Batko
12:06
Scotty Miller
Ray Fittipaldo
12:06
Darnell Washington. He hasn't done much in the passing game lately.
12:07
It's early, but it looks like quite a few Chiefs fans bought their way into the game today. Their fans are scattered throughout the lower bowl. I'm guessing some Steelers season ticket holders made some $$$$ on those transactions.

12:11
Which Christmas gift do you think the officials will give Mahomes today? A terrible pass interference call or a terrible roughing the QB call?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:12
Hmmmm. Given the state of the secondary with the injury to Porter I'll go with a DPI.

Can you name the only 2 NFL teams that have more than one win and are undefeated on Christmas?
Brian Batko
12:15
No can you tell me?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:15
Trivia! I know the Steelers are one of them. They're 2-0 on December 25.

They're both from PA.

Pottsville?

Chiefs 27, Steelers 12.  Hope I'm wrong.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:16
Steelers, 23, Chiefs 22.

12:17
Correct!  No, Eagles are 3-0.

12:18
I took the Chiefs by a score of 27-24 but Chris Jones is a massive absence for them. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Steelers pull it out.

Quick update on the four teams playing three games in 11 days: Ravens and Chiefs 2-0, Texans 1-1 and Steelers 0-2.
