Hi everyone, checking in early today from Heinz Field, where the Steelers and Colts have a big one on tap. Pittsburgh might win. Or it might not. But we'll be here for all the action.

Game not on in Ashburn, Va. Guess its the Red Zone

Bummer, Bill. But at least that'll allow you to keep an eye on Browns-Jets, too. To set the scene, Steelers can clinch the AFC North today with a win over Indy OR a Cleveland loss to the one-win Jets. Would feel weird if the first one doesn't happen but the second one does.
Your predictions, please:

Steelers win (20.6% | 7 votes)

Colts win (79.4% | 27 votes)

Tie ballgame (0% | 0 votes)

Little pregame roster update: James Conner back, but Anthony McFarland out. Steelers rolling with Carlos Davis and Henry Mondeaux on the D-line instead of Isaiah Buggs, and it'll be a big day for that group against this Colts ground game. https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2020/12/27/steelers-colts...

Thanks for moderating this discussion today. It's good therapy for those of us who have taken a big hit while watching our 11-0 start and no.1 ranking take a nosedive. It's also good to pick up on some things that are happening that we can't get from ESPN's live gameday animated field mock-up. No TV here and don't want to risk a visit to a sports bar. Anyway, do you think we are watching the last few games of BR's career as an effective QB in this league? I get that mgmt will want to bring him back next year, but these past few games he's played no better than MR did last season, and he's set to count $41M against the cap?! What do you think may happen, and what should happen? Thanks again!

That's the million dollar question these days, NC Steel. And there will be a big reaction one way or the other after this one, I suppose. As I wrote in my mailbag this week, the devil you know is often better than the devil you don't when it comes to finding a franchise QB, but it would make sense to hit the reset button at that position. Maybe even a lot of sense: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2020/12/24/steelers-juju-...

Snell better be starting over Conner. He has earned it!

Happy Gameday to you Bats!  Gonna have to rely on you and the rest of the Stiller chat faithful today for my game info as Minnesota is airing Bears-Jags!!! What a garbage game compared to Steelers-Colts.

Hi Brian- DO we see more no huddle today? Chances we go 3 and out on first offensive and defensive series?

Steelers need to commit to the run today. Even if it means punting the ball. It may open things up in the second half if they can run the ball a little bit in the first half. And it may help with play action and some jet sweeps.

Hi Brian, do you think Steelers should have kept Keryth White since he averaged 5.1 yards per carry behind this line last year?
Brian Batko
12:56
I didn't think drafting Anthony McFarland provided enough of an upgrade there to warrant that pick. But Whyte ended up getting hurt this year anyway, so haven't heard much from him.

Any news as to why we waived Gray?  He played a decent amount last week, was someone else brought in?
Brian Batko
12:59
Kevin Dotson is healthy, and J.C. Hassenauer is more versatile with his ability to play center. Derwin Gray basically got squeezed out in a numbers game there with injuries at other spots. I thought he was OK against Bengals too.

Colts win the toss and will defer. Steelers start with the ball.

Is Ray watching from home today?
Brian Batko

Ray is at home, and I sure hope he's watching, but I cannot confirm. And for those who have asked, yes, I'm at Heinz Field today.

Brian, are you at the stadium? How does Wright look?
Brian Batko

Tough to say from our angle in the press box. Really couldn't tell if he was nailing kicks or not, but he wasn't attempting from the same distance as Colts rookie Rod Blankenship, that's for sure.
And your starting running back today is ... Jaylen Samuels!
But Steelers come out in empty.

Benny Snell gets the second snap, good protection, but a low throw from Ben to JuJu. Third-and-10, folks...

That didn't take long. Sack streak continues with a TJ Watt takedown of Phil Rivers.

After all the talk last week and this week about running the football and they don’t run at one time?
