Hey there, we're about a half hour from kickoff for Steelers at Cowboys. As always, I'll be here to take your questions, comments, concerns, while providing some updates and (hopefully) insight as the game rolls along.
3:53
Avery Williamson is active for the Steelers, as are rookies Antoine Brooks and Carlos Davis. All could make their Pittsburgh debuts today. Brooks was active for one other game but did not see any action. Davis will be the fifth DL in the rotation after Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Isaiah Buggs and Henry Mondeaux.
3:56
Zeke Elliott IS active for Cowboys after being limited in practice this week. Same for Aldon Smith, Cowboys' leading pass-rusher with five sacks. They'll need big games out of both guys to even have a chance in this one.

hi, update on Diontae Johnson status?
Brian Batko
4:00
Hi Dan. Diontae Johnson is good to go. In a game that the Steelers should win handily, might be nice to see Johnson get a spark again after not catching a pass last week in Baltimore.
Excuse me, he did catch one pass, for six yads.

That's what we're here for.

Pittsburgh kid Ben DiNucci is inactive for Dallas, by the way. Garrett Gilbert to start at QB, Cooper Rush as his backup.

Some pregame reading: Steelers and just about every other Super Bowl contender made moves at or near the trade deadline https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2020/11/07/steelers-super...
4:15
I've got 10 minutes to make a crucial decision to start JuJu or Leonard Fournette in my flex...
4:20
Panthers kicker Joey Slye about to try a ... 67-yard? field goal to beat the Chiefs.
Aaaand it wasn't even close. Chiefs move to 8-1.

I am nervous about this game. Steelers may play down to opponent and get trapped. Did you and Ray pick the Steelers?
Brian Batko
4:24
Nick, I'm not nervous at all, nor should you be. Steelers might be over-confident, and they might "play down" to a degree after back-to-back draining, emotional wins on the road in huge games. BUT they're so much better than the Cowboys that all that won't result in a loss. Just my take. Ray and I both picked them to win and cover 14 points.
4:25
One minor thing to watch: Cowboys' long time punter Chris Jones is out with an injury.

Looks like a huge crowd by covid standards.
Brian Batko
4:26
Cowboys had over 25k at their last home game, and reporters there believe this might be their largest crowd of the season so far.
4:27
Vance McDonald, who missed the last practice of the week with an illness, is out there early. As is James Washington, who has played fewer and fewer snaps the last couple weeks.

4:29
THAT was a surprise!
Brian Batko
4:29
What, Fast Ben Roethlisberger? He's just out there playing backyard football.
4:30
Aaand that's probably NOT what you want Ben Roethlisberger trying to do today. Nearly picked off by two Cowboys on a first-down deep shot. Turnovers would keep Dallas in the game.

again, Ben's deep pass way off...  dont they practice this??
Brian Batko
4:31
I'm more concerned about the decision than the accuracy. Couple guys in coverage on him there.
4:32
Chase Claypool's gotta have that one. One-on-one on the outside with Cowboys' slot corner and he lets a ball dropped into his bread basket slip right through his hands on third down.
Didn't get the longest look at the punt formation but I did not see new LB Avery Williamson in there. I assume he'd only play special teams today if he plays at all.

why? get the first down

still looked like some impedement on rute..  but yeah shudda had it

OK, Cowboys are getting the ball for the "Golden Arm" Garrett Gilbert...

Dolphins up early on Cardinals hmmm...
Mike Medina

I know they can't stop taking shots deep, but they need to find a new way to threaten deep.  Ben just isn't deep accurate enough on those sidelines anymore

And Garrett Gilbert drops an early dime to Amari Cooper down the left sideline with Cam Sutton on the slot coverage. Yikes.
