The wind really blows along the river. The wind chill is said to be around 5 degrees. I think the wind will be a big factor. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:03
It can always change, but there is no wind in the stadium right now.

I think Steelers win this mainly because the Dolphins won't be able to handle the cold.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:05
Maybe not but I give Mike McDaniel credit for putting his team on a plane Saturday night and having them practice in the cold and snow at 9 p.m. at RMU. Playing in this kind of weather is a mindset, and he got them acclimated two days early. Smart move on his part.

Hi guys !  Who is the backup for Dylan Cook?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:09
They elevated Jack Driscoll from the practice squad earlier today to be the swing tackle.

Those florida boys might be thawed out from Saturday just in time to freeze up again. Lol. Lots of drops tonight
7:13
Aaron outplays Tua in the cold. Have they ever matched up before ?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:13
Why yes. They played in the same division last season. They split.

I feel good about scoring 10+ points in 1Q. If we can, that may eventually start throwing more. How do you see the first half playing out? Thank you sirs.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:14
You do? No team in the NFL has a longer streak of not scoring more than 7 in the first quarter than the Steelers, but I like the optimism.

Will TJ play next week?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:15
I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Does Gainwell start and Warren backs him up or is Warren going to start?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:16
My guess is Warren starts as usual, but he might not play as much as he usually does since he's ill.

Will Kaleb get some of warrens touches?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:18
Perhaps. Depends on how Warren feels throughout the game.
7:20
Jaylen Warren and Ollie Gordon sharing a moment just now on the field. A couple of Oklahoma State Cowboy RBs.

Have the Steelers abandoned the run because of their lack of success or are they abandoning it too soon for it to get going in your opinion?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:22
I think a little of both. My opinion: you have to keep trying even if you're not very good at it. I said this last week, but I'll repeat. They needed to be able to get more than three yards on two carries when they had a chance to end the game with the offense on the field against the Ravens. So it's fine if you want to come out and attack the Ravens with the pass. That worked. It got you a lead. But in order to finish these games -- and make them less interesting -- you have to be able to run the ball in the situation I just laid out.

Are yinz exposed to the weather or in a closed booth?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:24
We're inside, but let's just say the windows are not sealed very well. I have my overcoat on as I type this.

I'm cold in this press box for preseason games, so it's not necessarily weather-dependent. But yeah. It's frigid out there.

How does the field look especially for Boswell? Is he kicking as usual 50 to 60 yards or is the cold gonna hurt his distance tonight?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:27
Boswell is kicking right now and just made one from 57 with plenty of room to spare. The Dolphins kicker wasn't have any problems either.

Jaylen Warren is still leading the RBs in their individual drills, for what it's worth. Just saw OL coach Pat Meyer chat with him a little bit

Do the ex players in attendance get to go in locker room post game?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:30
I see the Pouncey brothers on the field now. Usually the postgame locker room is only for current players.

This game is a good measuring stick to see if the Steelers are indeed a playoff team. Miami has been playing well and a win tonight would give Steeler Nation a little more confidence assuming we win the division and face the likes of Los  Angeles, Houston or Buffalo in a 4-5 match up.

Is the reason that our run game is bad because our offense is so predictable? Even my sofa chair eyes can call the vast majority of the plays. I’ve read where opponents have said the same thing.

Minkah Fitzpatrick just got a nice firm handshake from Mike Tomlin at the 50

Prediction time. How many targets for Adam T and MVS and Muth? 4 3 3 would be my guesses.
Ray Fittipaldo

3, 2 and 5

My history of watching running game philosophy is that if you wear down the defense, 2 or 3 yard runs in the first half can become 6-7 yard runs in the 4th quarter.

These are the games Rodgers was brought here to win.

Great point. And last week too.

Do you foresee the weather being a huge factor in the passing game this evening?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:39
Playing in single digits with the wind chill is not ideal, but the Steelers are more used to it than the Dolphins.

Yes
