Good evening from Acrisure Stadium. The AFC North championship game is two hours away. Brian and I will be here to take your questions and Paul Zeise will take the chat over at kickoff.

Assuming that Pittsburgh wins tonight. (Which is obviously a big assumption ) will Washington be able to play in the playoff game obviously wearing a cast?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:19
No he was placed on IR last week so he has to miss four games.
David
6:20
Do you guys think Arty has anything up his sleeve he's been waiting to pull out that we'll see tonight?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:20
I'm sure both teams are going to empty the playbook tonight if there are any critical situations where a trick play could be effective.

Pickett started against Chris Oladukon today in a meaningless game.  My lord that 2022 draft was horrendous.  The only player it produced of any value was Pickens and well we know the rest of the story.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:22
And my favorite nugget on that draft is Brock Purdy was picked AFTER Oladokun! He was so bad he couldn't complete a pass in 7-on-7 drills in training camp. He was cut in August.

Ray:  Non Steeler question for you, but are you surprised at how teams like the Eagles are resting starters when they could earn a 2 seed vs a 3 thus guaranteeing the first two weeks at home?  They might get it anyway, but that shocks me.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:24
I'm a little surprised because you want to play as many games at home as possible, but coaches have a good feel for their players, who needs rest, etc. The last thing you want is losing a really important player in a game that really didn't matter other than seeding.

I watched like the Shrine bowl that year and Oladkon played in it.  After the first few series, I stopped watching after concluding that guy is the worst "prospect" I have ever seen.  Apparently Colbert liked him better than Purdy.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:25
Goes to show how much of a crapshoot the draft really is. I mean, Purdy almost went undrafted. I know he's a systems QB, but he's a pretty darn good one. If you surround him with a good team you're obviously going to have success.

Will some one please tell Miles Garret that the Sac Record for SIXTEEN GAMES is still held by T.J. Watt!
Ray Fittipaldo

OK will do.

I’m so tired of the NFL treating fans like an ATM. Another “8:20” kickoff that doesn’t really start until closer to 8:30, and you’re watching the end crawl past midnight. For what? More ads, more promos, more money.

The league can pretend it’s about “national windows,” but it’s really about squeezing every last dollar out of TV time and streaming deals. Working people, kids, older fans—anyone who has to be up early—gets told to deal with it.

The NFL doesn’t have a football problem. It has a greed problem.

The game starts at 8:22. And hi everyone.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:29
Been this way for a long time. And yes it's about the money. It's always about the money. I have to be honest. Unless the Steelers are playing I have a hard time watching any of these primetime games. I actually wanted to stay up and watch the 49ers and Seahawks play for the No. 1 seed last night, but I fell asleep in the second half. Maybe I knew I'd be up late tonight!
Lou
6:29
How about Roman Wilson. Can this guy get one shot?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:29
I don't get the idea he's on the same page as the QB.
Brian Batko
6:30
I wouldn't even be surprised if Roman Wilson is inactive tonight, given that all hands are on deck health-wise and they even elevated D'Shawn Jamison from the practice squad
Lou
6:32
Would Wilson get cut in offseason season?  If he hasn’t gotten it yet then maybe never. Draft high round WRS anyway.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:32
I don't think so. They don't usually move on from high picks that soon. Even Chase Claypool lasted 2 1/2 seasons.
Lou
6:33
Is tonight the night we see Muth get 10 catches? If not now then might as well be never.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:34
With Washington out I would expect Freiermuth to get more snaps for sure. You would think he'd be involved more in the passing game, but I've thought that all season long.
Paducah
6:35
I’m very excited about tonight’s game.  I’m hoping we don’t play to where the fans turn on the team. I want to go down swinging and cheering, not booing.  My question is, do you think the boos would have any impact on Rooney anyway?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:36
I'm sure he's aware, but I don't think they come into play when it comes to any decision making that might take place after the season.
Brian Batko
6:36
For tonight, my guess on the inactives: Will Howard, Kaleb Johnson, Jack Driscoll, Logan Lee, Jeremiah Moon and Tre Flowers. But again, with Calvin Austin III back from his hamstring injury, do you need a sixth receiver active who doesn't really play special teams? Or would you rather have another big body in the front seven for what could be a battle of attrition slowing down Derrick Henry?
Lou
6:38
Has Watt looked “himself” at practice?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:39
Late-season practice are more like walk-throughs, but Watt said he feels good so it doesn't sound like he'll be limited in any way.
IL Steel
6:40
What's realistic for Watt on how many snaps he can handle? Half?
Ray Fittipaldo
6:40
It's win or go home. I would not be surprised if he plays more than that.

6:41
Do we get the world-beating, insanely intense Steelers this week, or do we get their confused, never in their gaps, second too late shadow?
Brian Batko
6:41
Don't know. But I will say if you can't count on Mike Tomlin magic to win this game, at home, do-or-die, then ... what's the point anymore
Hillbilly
6:42
Hi Ray and Brian. Happy belated new year. Hope all is well. If we get boat raced tonight, what changes do you foresee happening?
Brian Batko
6:42
New assistant secondary coach. And maybe a fresh coat of paint in the indoor facility.

6:44
i am having a hard time getting excited for this game.  If we win, we get the Texans next week and most likely another playoff loss.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:45
Texans have won eight in a row. They look like a tough out, but that's the fun of the playoffs. You never know what might happen.
Steeler Steve
6:46
I'd rather play the Texans than the Bills or the Patriots
Ray Fittipaldo
6:46
I agree. Bills a bad matchup for the Steelers. Patriots? Steelers already beat them but needed five turnovers and some timely ones at that.

It would be an understatement to say that I am pessimistic.  I expect this to be like most playoff games over the last 9 years meaning Baltimore will have a 3 score lead before halftime.  We will make some type of minimal comeback before the Ravens pour it on late.  Balt 35-13 is my prediction.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:48
I think it will be lower scoring and closer, but I also picked the Ravens, 20-17.
