Someone earlier today asked me about a cold-weather advantage the Steelers might have tonight. Are the Texans considered a warm weather team and do the temps need to be colder than 30 degrees to constitute a real home field advantage? Thanks
Brian Batko
7:42
They are a warm weather team for sure, a dome team more importantly, but they won in frigid temps earlier this season at KC.
7:45
Chuck Clark, not Kyle Dugger, at safety with the first-team defense in warmups.

Wish you well in your future endeavors if this is, indeed, our last chat.

Has a team ever made the playoffs with less than a +10 point differential for the season like the Steelers had this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:47
I'm sure it's happened. We had a 7-9 team in the playoffs 15 years ago. I'd have to look it up, but I feel like it's happened before.

Brian how do you think each team’s opposing OL and DL match up vs each other?
Brian Batko
7:48
Both teams' OL could be in for a long night

How many targets this game for DK, Austin, Muth, and Jonnu?
Brian Batko
7:49
Then again, I said that about the Texans two years ago when they were starting  a bunch of backups, and the Steelers couldn't get much pressure at all on CJ Stroud that day. Much of the offensive staff is still the same.

Quite a bit of Steelers luminaries on the sideline tonight. James Harrison, Casey Hampton, Joe Haden, Santonio Holmes, Ryan Shazier, Vince Williams

Any Championship Steelers around tonight to show support?
Ray Fittipaldo

Look above. We just watched a lot of alumni wish the Steelers well after warmups.

Ray and Brian, I’ve read the PG for over 50 years. I really appreciate the great Steelers coverage over the yesrs from both of you and all your colleagues

Thanks!

Brian, what injury did Dugger sustain that had him out for a game or two?
Brian Batko

Hand injury

Ray/Brian: the Texans have one of the top turnover differentials in the league.  Do you view that though as a potential positive?  If the Steelers can win the turnover battle, maybe the Texans won't be as awesome as they have looked lately.
Brian Batko
7:54
Steelers are 2-4 this season against teams with a plus turnover differential. Of course, the Steelers themselves are third. But the only two wins came against Detroit and New England. Lost to the Bears (with Mason Rudolph), Packers, Chargers and Bills.

Is there reason to believe PPG might continue in some form past May?  I live in NYC and this is my window into Pittsburgh!!!!  Much love!

Thanks Lou! I don't have any answers for you on that, but people are trying behind the scenes.

I suppose it both QBs are under duress we will find out if youth beats out age and experience. I’m gonna guess Aaron makes the better throw if he has that one extra millisecond

Let me echo the sentiments expressed about PG’s Steelers team. Hopefully if not at PG you’all keep covering the team because your insights are valued.

Thanks, Yates. Appreciate your loyal chatting over the years, too.

Lol Sebastian Castro. Odds on that one Brian?

I sure like to end that seven points or less than the first quarter streak at 69 games. I kinda like odd numbers.

Tough foe to do it against, Hillbilly

Brian, what with all the talk of previous terrible first Qs….how much does that really carry over to right now? I would guess it’s all coincidence and the current players don’t even think of it.
Brian Batko
8:02
Not to mention those were against significantly better offenses and QBs, by and large. But you're right about the player personnel, so if it happens again, it'll be very hard to ignore the possibility that it's a preparation or game plan issue from the staff led by Mike Tomlin.

Rank the Steeler stars podcasts please. Joe Haden and James Harrison, Big Ben, and cam heyward are the most notable ones. Anything else worth checking out
Brian Batko

I'd probably go Cam's 1 because it has current players on each week. Christian Kuntz 2, for the same reason. Ben 3, Deebo and Joe 4.
8:05
OK folks, 10 minutes til showtime. I'm gonna hop off. Enjoy the game.

Texans red zone offense is stagnant, correct? Run game is bad. Nico Collin’s is the main threat. Because the deep ball of stroud and his weapons rely on chunk completions, should two high be expected?
Ray Fittipaldo
8:07
Yes I'd make the Texans drive the length of the field. Limit the big plays.
