Congrats
Dwayne Johnson
7:51
Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? Also, does JV win the AL Cy Young this year or does he get robbed again (2016)?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:51
I don't think he gets it. He'll be top-3 though
7:53
Who would you draft 2nd in a roto league next spring?

Ramirez (13.9% | 5 votes)

Lindor (5.6% | 2 votes)

Betts (80.6% | 29 votes)

Scherzer (0% | 0 votes)

Total Votes: 36

11-team, AL only 4x4, 13 keepers max. I have a bunch of potential hitters to keep. Is there much risk in keeping too many hitters (eg, Soler at $8), or should I look to give myself maximum flexibility on draft day?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:55
I'd keep some flexibility. Soler may go for less than $8 after this year. This past spring, I was in the same boat with pitchers and dropped two just so I could find deals.

What’s your outlook for Corey Seager coming off 2 surgeries? Still a stud?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:56
I'm not touching him until 10th round or later right now. I want to see him hitting in ST first.

7:56
What about Jansen?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:57
With Jansen, I'm going to put him at 2/3 starts and see where he stands. I'm sure he'll pitch fine but I'm worried about the number of appearances

Keep three in a H2h points league. Jose Ramirez, Rendon, soto, acuna, nola? Also, thank you, the site does great stuff. Definitely helped me win this year.
Jeff Zimmerman
7:59
If it's keep forever, Ramirez, Soto, and Acuna. You could have three 1st rounders for years to come.

It seems like R. Lopez took a lot of no-decisions and losses this season despite pitching well. Do you think he takes a significant step forward next year, even though he plays for the WSox?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:59
I'm not sure about a step forward. Now his results could be better with a better team around him.

10-team standard league. Does Vlad Jr go in the draft or as an early waiver/FA claim?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:00
Draft. You'll likely need to start considering him in the 5th round. I need to go back and check the Kris Bryant buzz.
Rob

Max Muncy for $5 and 1B-2B-3B eligibility. Hard to turn down as a keeper? Even with ‘18 platoon by Roberts.
Jeff Zimmerman
8:01
And who knows what the Dodger's roster will look like next year. Muncy could be moved.

deGrom or Snell next year?  5x5 roto?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:02
deGrom. Longer track record.

Will Moncada hit enough to become a stud?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:02
I don't think so. Maybe he'll be Mondesi-lite

In drafting SP, how much weight do you place on drafting a pitcher from a high-scoring team you think will win games (eg, NYY)? Do you avoid SP on lousy teams you think will do poorly (eg, O's)?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:04
I draft talent #1. I did a study in the past looking at pitcher wins depending on a team's pre-season expectations. The difference between pitchers on the best and worst teams is 2 Wins.
8:05
It's a tie breaker at best.

Game 163 does not count towards fantasy stats for ESPN, at least per the Cockroft/Karabell podcast

And now you know

Nyjer Morgan or Mitch Haniger?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:06
In what?
8:07
We are drying up. If no more, I shut it down and prep some BBQ
stever20
8:08
Trevor Story- will his elbow situation impact him in your opinion next year?  Will it be something possibly similar to Seager this year?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:09
It is a worry and Story's plate discipline worries me a bit. If he's not on base, he can't steal. He's a top-25 pick right now which is too rich for me.

In a keepers league (AL, 4x4 11 teams), should I keep a higher-priced player with some injury risk ( like Judge) or keep the salary money for draft day?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:11
Keep Judge. Players of his talent level are tough to find in AL-only leagues. Now, if the injury risk bothers you, you could trade him.
Dave in London
8:11
With bullpens so volatile, is it worth spending a lot on draft day for a "proven" closer, or should I spread the risk across 2-3 candidates?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:12
I'm to the point of spending on 3-5 lesser ones. There are always starters on the wire. There aren't always closers.
CamarGOAT
8:12
Since we are drying up I'll ask it... keeping Conforto for $9 and Haniger for $5 12 team 5X5 H2H R, HRs, RBI, OPS, SB
Jeff Zimmerman
8:13
For sure, both should at least be $15 players even before keeper inflation is taken into account
stever20

where will Luke Voit get picked next year?  Is he going to be crazily overrated?
