In a best ball 12-teamer with enormous rosters (42 players per team) and only two FAAB periods, 4/7 and 6/2 ... given the lack of quality FA options and with only two bidding opportunities, how aggressive should I be with my bids out of a $1000 budget?

Smith (CWS) in a deep 15 team league. I've been trying to trade for Mize because I think I irrationally love him and I hate risking WHIP. Sasaki, Lopez and Hancock are by far the best SP on waivers. Stay patient on Smith or move on to one of the others?
