better option for steals this week, mateo or peck?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:52
I like Mateo

In 2nd place in an AL roto with a chance of gaining in ERA and WHIP ... whats your recommended strategy this close to the end with starters vs relievers. Should I pull a guy like Ober for middle relivers
Jeff Zimmerman
7:53
That part may take some math, but most likely you'll need to throw every starter because you'll need a lot of good innings to make a dent.
7:55
I'd assume the other guy stays even, how many innings of certain ratios do you need to catch him? 18 IP of 0.00 ERA and 0.80 WHIP might not be as helpful as 80 IP of 2.00 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.

Hey! Need a replacement for Jazz in my AL Only OBP league. (HAHAHA) Can you pick a few favorites from Hao Yu Lee, Sogard, Leody Taveras, John Peck? (Steals would be nice, since that’s what I lost…)
Jeff Zimmerman
7:57
If you only need steals, Peck is the answer. If it's a more rounded player, add Lee
Beano
7:57
Carlos Jorge? The Reds seem intent on playing him ROS. Anything there? And Brito?
Jeff Zimmerman
7:59
A strong-sde platoon bat. While I usually don't worry about someone struggling over 16 PA (.250 OPS), teams are throwing him any fastballs (33%). And I see why. One sec ...
8:00
He's only going to see sliders until he gets that 43% SwStr% against them down

Is Reynaldo Lopez to volatile to add at this point?  His return start is rough, but he's one of the few pitchers available in most leagues with three potential starts left.  (@CHC (Peterson) then vs CIN and maybe finish the year @MIA).
Jeff Zimmerman
8:02
He's not bad, it's just that he is a WHIP killer (1.39 WHIP) for those in Roto leagues.

massey or jp crawford this week?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:02
JP ... going to COL

Thanks for all the help this season! It’s been fun!

You're welcome

Drew Thorpe has made 9 rehab starts, and done reasonably well. 0.95 Whip. 2.70 ERA. What is keeping the White Sox from bringing him up? It's not like their rotation is dominant.
Jeff Zimmerman
8:04
Not sure, I haven't read anything about him

Re: Mesa…think he had good splits vs LHP…almost reverse splits in minite
Jeff Zimmerman
8:06
Corrent. Career 141 wRC+ vs LHP, 115 wRC+ vs RHP

Jeff, thank you as always for these ever so helpful weeklies.  What’s your take on Emmanuel Rodriguez? He has been up and down mainly due to injuries, but when healthy, his talent is v impressive
Jeff Zimmerman
8:08
He's in that group with a lot of swing-and-miss but insane power (118 maxEV).
8:09
Here are the players who had similar Contact and Power numbers in AAA and how they performed in the majors.
8:10
Does he end up making enough contact to be like Kurtz or does his contact% remain an issue like Morel
Hazmat Corntail
8:10
are you buying on Brooks Lee next year? The power was nice but he seems
Jeff Zimmerman
8:12
Lee was a major target for me coming into the season. I had a notion that he had 20 HR upside. He had a little more than that.
8:13
I don't see that upside now
He'll be a nice late infielder since he'll be qualified at short and third

Basically in no man's land in a 12 team keeper league. Any $1 fliers that may turn into a keepable asset next year?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:14
Go look at the players on the IL and pick up a few of them.

Don't we need a pretty big sample size to declare an LHB immune to LHP splits?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:15
Correct, but as of now, there is no reason to platoon him unless there is someone who just crushes lefties who has to play
MFG
8:16
Deep AL only, trying to hold onto 1st place and WHIP is the main battleground. Grin and bear a two-step with Jose Soriano (Det; @Tex), or drop him for a low volume RP?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:17
Since the beginning of August, he has an 1.36 WHIP
I would probably sit him and not give your opponent any help

8:18
Is Corbin Burnes going to pitch enough in the next two weeks to be worth a claim?
Jeff Zimmerman
8:19
I am adding just to keep him away from my opponents. There are leagues where I could see starting him
NicklePickers

Coming up on a starts limit. Should I cut Ian Seymour (vs. BOS, @PHI) for a middle reliever?
