Hello chatters, welcome to my first MLB chat! Let's get this show on the road

I have these prospect pitchers- whitley canning cease and Singer.  Thoughts on future with them?
Smith Brickner
1:04
Whitley has best outlook at this time because he's so close to the majors and has dominated. Cease and Manning I see as solid #2's. Singer didn't pitch last season, but he could be a fast riser.

will padres extend realmuto if they trade for him?
Smith Brickner
1:05
It would make a trade for him all the more sensible, but there's no way Miami provides a window for them to negotiate before a trade. If he's extended, it's after he's already been traded for.

When will Machado and Harper sign?
Smith Brickner
1:07
Anyone's guess, it's tough to tell. Like with the Realmuto trade rumors, you hear a whisper about how something is heating up, only to hear nothing for several days afterwards.
1:08
Padres are reportedly trying to set up a meeting with Manny, so to me that seems like at least 1 more week. Harper, we haven't heard anything new, per se. If I had to guess, Harper signs first.

how long until im traded?
Smith Brickner
1:08
Certainly not this year

Am I regretting the Giancarlo trade?
Smith Brickner
1:10
Miami paid down a portion of the deal and you gave up minimal prospect capital to get him. If it means a roadblock for a Harper signing, then perhaps somewhat.
1:11
But I think people forget how good Giancarlo was and can be. He was traded into another league, into a huge market. Not enough people give him credit for putting up the numbers he did last year.

Medina, Moniak, Franco, Sanchez, and Williams for Trout let's get it done
Smith Brickner
1:13
Ah yes, I should've seen comments like this coming

Was there any debate on Vlad Jr. being #1?
Smith Brickner
1:14
Zero. He is clearly the #1 prospect not only because of his immense upside, but his proximity to the majors. Prospect rankings are as much about how close they are to the majors as it is projecting upside.

Rookie of the Year predicitions?
Smith Brickner
1:15
Vlad Jr. for AL, Victor Robles for NL
El Presidente

Have you heard anything on Ervin Santana?
Smith Brickner
1:16
I'm high on Santana. He was a #2 as recent as 2017, and by all accounts struggled last season because of injuries. Solid bounceback candidate, should get a major league contract.

most underrated prospect in baseball?
Smith Brickner
1:18
Love love love Jo Adell. Man can do it all. Would've been in more top 5 rankings for publications if he had more of a track record. His skills are obvious.

Have Twins done enough?
Smith Brickner
1:20
This is one of the biggest internal debates I've had: on the one hand, they've signed a bunch of really good hitters and have added depth to their pitching corps. But on the other hand, you have Machado, Harper and other high-caliber performers, sitting out there. Why not even make an effort to go out there and get them?
1:21
And considering how the Indians have lost some key performers, they had a huge opportunity to swoop in and steal that division. So no, they haven't done nearly enough.
Barry Bonds
1:21
Am I ever getting into the hof?
Smith Brickner
1:23
I genuinely don't know. He's not getting the annual growth in votes that you'd hope for. It's an ethical debate more than anything.
1:24
That said, if he's in, Clemens almost certainly would be in as well. They're together at the hip.

Jose Berrios' upside?
Smith Brickner
1:26
Really good #2. He has frontline stuff, but if he can improve the command of his breaking pitches, he's a #1. He's young and still pre-arb, so there is certainly room to improve in that department.
1:27
Twins would be smart to extend him. Wouldn't surprise me to see an announcement soon, to be honest

When does Joey Bart get to the majors and can he be another Posey?
Smith Brickner
1:29
Fast riser, I say 2020 with a 55 FV. Hit and fielding tools aren't as good as Posey's were, but his power outlook is a true plus; really rare for catchers. His fielding is still good enough, and everything I hear is that he calls a very solid game.

Can Kyler play both football and baseball?
Smith Brickner
1:32
20 years ago, why not? Now, almost no chance.
1:33
The mindset in front offices for both sports has changed since Deion's time. And considering Kyler has had limited exposure to baseball, he'll almost certainly need more time to develop than your typical prospect.

Why doesn't mlb allow for trading draft picks?
Smith Brickner
1:36
Well, they do (sorta). You can only trade certain draft picks, but you can't trade most of them. With teams placing such a huge value on their own prospects, trading a pick before it materializes into a prospect could make trading much more prevalent.
1:39
If picks could be more traded freely, I think Realmuto would've been long gone from Miami
