Why did Yankees immediately trade Shed Long for a just-drafted prospect?
Smith Brickner
1:40
Saves future 40-man space. I remember hearing somewhere that Stowers was a target of theirs in the 2nd round, but Seattle obviously picked him before they could nab him.

I remember in one of your previous chats, you were low on Adalberto Mondesi. Where would draft him, then?
Smith Brickner
1:41
I'm by no means an expert in fantasy baseball, but I can think of at least 7 or 8 shortstops I'd choose over him.

Are you familiar with investing in some stock with an mlb team ? If so would you recommend
Smith Brickner
1:42
I believe the Indians, Braves and Blue Jays are all owned by publicly traded companies. The teams themselves are not publicly traded, though.
1:43
It's interesting though... you can get some interesting information from their parent company's financials

Marcus Stroman… is a rebound in the cards?
Smith Brickner
1:44
He needs to stay healthy. If he's healthy, he could enjoy a very solid year, especially since Toronto has worked on improving their infield defense. For a groundball pitcher like Stroman, that's HUGE
1:45
He's one of the guys I'm looking forward to seeing the most in Spring Training. Not that the results matter, but I want to see where his stuff and mechanics are

Me no feelings. Me robot.

Say a team like the Braves make a deal for Bumgarner, what would that return package look like?
Smith Brickner
1:47
This is an interesting debate. If they were unwilling to move any of their top prospects for 2 years of Realmuto, I see no situation where they'd change course in a deal for Bumgarner
1:48
I can't envision the Giants moving him now, either. And if they did, they'd want talent close to the majors.

will giancarlo look more like his 2017 or 2018 self?
Smith Brickner
1:50
eh, I'd say probably somewhere in the middle. He had unsustainable success in 2017, but he was also good-not-great last year. As he becomes more familiar with pitchers in the AL, I could see a situation where he's a .900 OPS bat with slightly less K's

I’m not really going to start over DJ Lemahieu, am I?

Has your opinion on the NL East changed since the Realmuto trade?
Smith Brickner
1:55
A little, not much. Still have it Nats, Phils, Braves, Mets, Marlins

How about we get robots to call balls and strikes? Seems to have enough support amongst front offices
Smith Brickner
1:55
It's not that far fetched a concept.
1:57
Arguing balls and strikes would be interesting, though. Imagine some algorithm that can decide the appropriate time to throw a player out of the game for arguing. ha!

What’s an interesting trend you’re noticing in the game that is going mostly unnoticed publicly?
Smith Brickner
1:58
I like these multi-positional catchers. Astudillo and Kiner-Falefa are fun guys to watch move all over.
And who doesn't love themselves a good Astudillo bat flip?

Of all series to have in London this year, why the Yankees and Red Sox?
Smith Brickner
1:59
Yeah, I've been wondering this myself. Clearly, it's to add added hype to the games in London, hoping for better turnout.

Imagine going to a Orioles-Marlins game in London. Oof.

Which pitcher from 2018 draft do you think reaches the majors first?

Cole. Winn.
