After watching All-Star activities all weekend, I can’t help but think MLB could do more to promote the game during their All Star festivities. Agree/disagree?
Smith Brickner

No doubt. Imagine Andrelton Simmons and Francisco Lindor in a skills competition at shortstop, Matt Chapman and Nolan Arenado at third, and Billy Hamilton and Harrison Bader in center. How would that not be a sensation?

We remember how bad Greg Holland was for the Cards once he signed on Opening Day. Was that a Holland issue, or is that something almost anyone can expect under those circumstances of signing real late?

When you're pitching to college kids one day, then pitching to major leaguers a week or so later, chances are you're in for a bashing.
1:41
I admit that Holland was exceptionally bad and is probably an extreme case, but you have to project some sort of underperformance for guys who are signed really late into ST/early reg. season.

Any colleges you plan on watching play this season?
Smith Brickner
1:42
I want to see Stony Brook play this season, hoping to do so when they start playing games up here.

Thoughts on how long this offseason has dragged on?
Smith Brickner
1:43
Fan sentiment is important. Fans hate this dragged out offseason. That should be enough incentive for the league to look at ways to expedite the offseason.
They've made waves in trying to speed up the game itself because of fan sentiment.... time to do the same with the offseason.

Pick a guy on the Tigers who could have a breakout this season
Smith Brickner
1:47
I'm rooting for Daniel Norris to stay healthy, but I'm not counting on it. Joe Jimenez is my guy.
1:48
Jimenez has an absolutely filthy fastball/slider combo and made legitimate strides with his command last year. This year, he could be real fun to watch.

Moneyball was so overrated, most of the movie wasn’t even accurate

We saw what an exuberant price tag did to Craig Kimbrel this offseason. Do agents adjust to the times, or do they keep fighting this trend of more conservative spending?
Smith Brickner
1:50
I have to imagine they fight to the very last minute, only to realize they don't have as much leverage as they thought, then they settle for what many would consider team-friendly deals.
AKA, a repeat of this season
1:51
And it'll probably repeat because players are always changing agents, hoping the new agent can maximize their value either in an extension or on the market. So of course the agents will shoot high, or they'll be out of a job soon.

Grade the offseasons for each team in the AL East
Smith Brickner
1:51
Yankees: A-
1:52
Rays: B
Orioles: C
Blue Jays: C-
Red Sox: D+
1:53
And no, I'm not giving the Red Sox a poor grade because I'm a Yankees fan: they haven't done enough to stay atop their own division, let alone the American League

Few more questions, then I need to run
