Hello everyone!  Welcome to my chat.  Any kind of baseball question is welcome. I can offer fantasy baseball advice, though of questionable value.
1:59
Also, feel free to ask questions about MLB Trade Rumors itself, as I am the site's owner!
Ohtani
1:59
Still early, but do you think I can keep up being a two-way player for a whole season?
Tim Dierkes
1:59
Of course!  This was a qualification of signing Ohtani, and unless some injury gets in the way, he'll keep going like this and hopefully wowing us.

Does Jose Bautista sign or retire?
Tim Dierkes
2:00
Just a gut feel, but he feels like a guy who could be forced into retirement.  His pride might not allow for a minor league deal.
Brendan Donley

How did you go about getting MLB Trade Rumors seen, in the early days? Even with great content/look/effort, did you have help spreading the word?
Tim Dierkes
2:01
In the early days, social media mostly did not exist.  MLBTR had the good fortune of having its URL passed around in message board forums.  It seemed like it went viral a bit in that way and caused traffic to grow.

After losing 9 straight, what is next move for the Rays?
Tim Dierkes
2:02
Looks like eight straight...there's really no move to be made in April.  In July it should be clear whether there is anything worth playing for.

How long before Nick Senzel gets recalled?
Tim Dierkes
2:02
I could see as early as late April, depending on the outlook of the Suarez injury.

Better LA team in 2018: Dodgers or Angels?
Tim Dierkes
2:03
Looking a little closer than we thought, eh?  I'll still take the Dodgers.
Justin Turner
2:03
Was I THAT important to this team, or are the dodgers just tired from a long playoff run?
Tim Dierkes
2:05
He's a big difference-maker, but nine games should not be overstated.  Right now a bunch of guys happen to be slumping simultaneously, most notably Corey Seager.  I'm sure he's had 39 bad PA before.
Dustin
2:05
Will Chris Archer be a National by years end?
Tim Dierkes
2:06
The match looks very reasonable on paper, in terms of need and a team with top shelf young talent.
Pad Squad
2:06
I'm not confident Margot, Myers, Renfroe, and Hedges are a good enough "core" to make the playoffs in a few years. Agree or disagree? What/who should they get?
Tim Dierkes
2:08
Jason Martinez is our resident Padres expert.  I would agree that if that is the core, it is lacking, but I think people are excited long-term about this team because of the wave of talent that includes Fernando Tatis Jr., Cal Quantrill, Anderson Espinoza, and others who I guess are even more far off.

Too cold and snowy for the Cubs, but not the White Sox?
Tim Dierkes
2:09
Looking outside about 30 miles west of Wrigley, it seems cold but playable.  But the Cubs built in the off day tomorrow for this very reason, so might as well hold off.

Which early season surprise players do you think will hold their success into the rest of the season?
Tim Dierkes
2:09
Some hitters I like: Gregory Polanco, Mitch Haniger, and David Peralta.
2:11
Little tougher to take a guess based on two starts, but I could see Dylan Bundy, Gerrit Cole, Luke Weaver, and of course Ohtani beat their projections.
Luhnow
2:11
It's a week into the season but it's already obvious we won't be able to count on Giles for meaningful outs in October. Who are my trade options I can start scouting ahead of the deadline?
Tim Dierkes
2:12
Non-contenders will emerge.  But guys you could start watching now could include Nate Jones, Joakim Soria, Shane Greene, Kelvin Herrera, and Raisel Iglesias.  Iglesias could be the prize of the summer relief market.
Gregg sinestro
2:12
Is Grichuk going to breakout?
Tim Dierkes
2:12
This is not going out on a limb...but I foresee his first 30 HR season, and a crappy OBP.  These days I guess that's not a breakout.
Gavin
2:12
Do you see the Angels make a trade for a starting pitcher?
Tim Dierkes
2:13
Yes, but such things rarely materialize before June.  You know what would be a fun signing?  John Lackey.
Clint
2:13
Is Brian Anderson fantasy worthy?
Tim Dierkes
2:14
In a 12-team mixed league, probably not.  From what I've read he's got gap power...if he hits ,280 with 15 HR that's a nice rookie year, but not relevant in a lot of fantasy leagues.  That said, there is something to just picking up the guys who are getting regular playing time.  Much like college, part of fantasy is just showing up.

Do the Reds call up Senzel to replace Suarez, I understand that the call up makes more sense after the service time extra year window expires...
Tim Dierkes
2:16
If that's something they're thinking, they haven't shown signs of it yet.  His first three games have been at 2B.  I could picture him moving back to 3B for about a week and then perhaps getting the call.

How do you see the White Sox rebuilding is going so far?
Tim Dierkes
2:17
Very well.  There isn't much to quibble with.  Rick Hahn has extracted high prices for just about everyone he's traded.  I believe in Moncada, Jimenez, et al.  I do think there is more work to be done regarding trading veterans, but I can't judge without knowing what the offers are for Abreu, Avi, and anyone else.
Mark Reynolds
2:17
Tim I hit 30 dingers last year and I want to play, who signs me?
Tim Dierkes
2:19
Well, 30 HR is the new 20.  Maybe he could help the Mets at some point?  It's tough out there for a 1B.
Jon Becker

Is MLBTR manned 24/7? If so, does your least favorite writer get the graveyard shift?
