He's their LF for 2021 as of now

I believe it makes a ton of sense for the Rockies to trade Story and potential Arenado.  They have the minor league talent to start the rebuild.  It doesn't seem they are going to be able to win with the team they have.  What is holding them back?
Connor Byrne
2:33
Delusion? Owner Dick Monfort saw them as a 94-win team before last season (granted, before the pandemic limited the season). I agree that it's time to start selling off pieces, particularly Story. Not sure how much value Arenado would have in a trade, but Steve wrote about potential suitors today: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/nolan-arenado-trade-rumors-rock...

What teams do you think sign the big RPs on the market? (Hendrinks, Hand....)
Connor Byrne
2:33
The Phillies need to be all over every standout reliever available.

Any timeline on when the league is going to decide on the universal DH? Pretty unfair to some big FAs and also all the NL Teams
Connor Byrne
2:34
Your guess is as good as mine, and it's something the league needs to hash out sooner than later. It's not fair to certain FAs or NL teams that there isn't an answer yet.

When do you think the first top 10 FA signs?
Connor Byrne
2:35
I'm gonna say someone will come off the board before Thanksgiving

Who would cost less to acquire..... Story or Lindor?
Connor Byrne
2:37
This is difficult, but I'd probably say Story.
Ask me again in five minutes and I might have a different answer. It's like pulling teeth.

Lindor and Carrasco for Kay, Gurriel, Groshans. Who says no?
Connor Byrne
2:40
Man, this is a good one. I don't think the Blue Jays would do it because I don't know if they're necessarily that "all-in" just yet. They may only get a year from Lindor. Carrasco is really good, but he's a soon-to-be 34-year-old.
Giants Big Move?
2:41
Zaidi showed that though he likes to make under the radar pickups, him and the rest of the SF front office really tried to go in on Harper. 2021 doesn't look like a winning team just yet. But 2022, lots of money off the books. Any big time FA (if they are on the market) that looks to be up the Giants ally? Growing up with Bonds it spoiled me having the excitement of a big time superstar bat in the lineup.
Connor Byrne
2:42
Could be any of the big-time shortstops (Lindor, Seager, Story, Baez, Correa) with Crawford set to come off the books.

How excited should Padres fans be about the Patino, Gore, Weathers trio and when can we expect a significant impact at the big league level
Connor Byrne
2:43
I'd be excited, and I could see 2021 being an impact year for any one of them, especially with Clevinger going down

Angels have some insane talent and some gross contracts. We're entering the typical peak age of Trout and now on the darkside of 30 for Rendon. Moreno says payroll isn't an issue but can he allow the FO to make big moves for pitching? Bauer, Tanaka? Trades? Something my goodness.
Connor Byrne
2:46
I could easily see them in on Bauer and Tanaka. Even a Lynn trade would make a lot of sense. Also, keep in mind that Corey Kluber won 2 Cy Youngs in Cleveland under now-Angels pitching coach Mickey Callaway. Those are just a few of many possibilities. Regardless, the Angels certainly have to address their rotation in some way, and hopefully better than signing the Harveys, Cahills and Teherans of the world

What's your take the new GM hire for the Halos?
Connor Byrne
2:47
He seems to be a well-qualified candidate, so no complaints. Same deal with Kim Ng of the Marlins.

2:47
Is James Paxton a Rangers' 3 for 30 candidate? I'd love to see him fill Lynn's hole in the rotation.
Connor Byrne
2:47
I don't think Paxton will do that well, but yeah, he'd make some sense as a Rangers reclamation project.

Of the "comeback" veterans, which do you predict as having the best 2021?  Kluber, Odorizzi, Quintana, Archer, Ray, Paxton, Lester, etc?  (Poll fodder?)
Connor Byrne
2:49
I still believe in Kluber more than any of those other guys, though I have been a longtime Quintana fan. I think they'll both do well in 2021.

Why would the Mets sign Ozuna when they clearly need to invest in pitching and catching?
Connor Byrne
2:51
It looked less likely than it does now before Cano's suspension (the Mets could now put McNeil at 2B), but I do agree that they have other needs worth addressing first. Realmuto makes tons of sense ther,e for instance

Do you think the Royals will tender contracts to Soler ($7-8MM in arbitration) and / or Franco ($4-5MM)? Soler was not very good this year, and Franco had a .8 WAR in 2020 and only 2.2 for his 2500 AB career.
Connor Byrne
2:52
Yes, even though I'm not a big Franco fan

Smyly a good sign for Braves?
Connor Byrne
2:52
I think so. However, I've been a Smyly fan since he was  a prospect, so that could be clouding my judgment.
Rangers29
2:53
Hot take: Teams should be targeting James Mccann over JT.
Connor Byrne
2:54
I guess it depends on budget, but if you think you can get McCann AND properly address other needs, it's not that insane. MLBTR's own Steve Adams is a pretty big McCann guy.
With that, I have to leave to handle the site for the evening. I apologize if I couldn't get to your questions. Thanks for taking part, though, and have a great weekend!
