Depends on the length of the extension. If they're going 6-7 years, of course. Rooker's a guy who hasn't made much money yet ... if they want to try to lock in the arb years to tack on one free agent year or something, and gain some cost certainty, there's merit to that. If Rooker is like "Yeah I'm open to an extension but only if we're starting at six years," well ... then, no.

Though Brent is entertaining as hell on social media and did an awesome chat with our readers a year or two ago, so I say pay that many whatever he wants!

Am I wrong in thinking that teams who are World Series contenders should go all in right now with the next CBA negotiations possibly being incredibly hostile and ugly?

I feel pretty confident that the next CBA negotiations will be hostile and ugly.  Actually I think that will be the case every five years indefinitely.  To the point where I'm not expecting to have 2026 Winter Meetings because of an expected lockout.

In terms of going all-in because of those looming talks, I don't think that's a compelling reason by itself.  It's one thing to say there will be another offseason lockout, and another to think we could actually lose part or all of a season.  That hasn't happened since 1994.  And as ugly as the last CBA talks were, I don't think we were that close to losing the entire season.
With that, we are pretty fried.  Like done...not Max Fried.

Steve and I are both flying out tomorrow morning, but we've got a little more lobby chatting to do.  Thanks for jumping into this impromptu chat with us, and keep an eye out for a mega-podcast coming out on Friday with the two of us plus Anthony and Darragh.

Thanks to everyone for subscribing and supporting the work. It's humbling and means a ton to us. We're lucky to have the readers we do. Off to go find out where Corbin Burnes is signing. Back off, Passan. I've got this one.

(I do not. But never know what kind of fun stuff we'll here on a night out here, so let's go find out!)
