Not really. Improved quality of contact is nice, but he's swinging at nearly 40% of balls off the plate (league-average is 28%), sitting on a .350 BABIP and seeing two out of every nine fly-balls he hits become a home run despite that being like... Brent Rooker/Kyle Schwarber level power
And despite playing in a terrible park for home runs.

So there are some positive signs, but I think it's much closer to an anomaly rather than the early stages of a breakout.

If I'm Jed and Carter, I go after Willi Castro instead of meeting the probable steep acquisition cost for Suarez and use more bullets for the rotation and pen. Suarez seems to be at least a bit over his skis this year and his run may stop if traded. Castro plays everywhere, has good speed, switch hits and has at least some pop. Am i looney?

I'd just go after Geno AND some high-end rotation upgrades, but if the bidding on Suarez reaches a point the Cubs feel it's silly to compete, then Castro is a solid alternative (assuming the Twins sell at least partially)

Alright, I've got to wrap this up for the week. Thanks so much for subscribing and supporting us. Sorry to not do a chat last week. We were making a push to get all the Trade Deadline Outlooks completed. Hopefully those were entertaining for you all -- the feedback has generally been good.

I'll have a free chat on the site tomorrow, and Anthony will have another Front Office chat on Friday. I'm on X @Adams_Steve and Bluesky @adams-steve.bsky.social for more questions.

It should be a hectic deadline season but we'll do our best to cover everything to the fullest extent possible. Thank you to all of you for the engagement, fun discussion and most of all your support for our work. It's appreciated beyond what I can accurately communicate and legitimately humbling.
Enjoy your week!
