In short, he's a great player anywhere and everywhere
Matt
1:18
Monstrous collapse aside, is Gallo in the bigs for good now?
Travis Sawchik
1:19
I hope so. Even if he Ks 200 times he still has positive value
Adam
1:19
Is there a mass prospect list with all of the grades on it?
Travis Sawchik
1:19
If there I don't have it. Maybe Eric has it buried in the desert somewhere
Moltar
1:19
Has Khris surpassed Chris?
Travis Sawchik
1:19
Not yet

Buxton has already made millions of dollars, stands to make a couple million more even if he flames out, and has seemingly all of his brain cells intact. I think he made the right decision...
Travis Sawchik
1:20
That's all true
Grant
1:20
Giancarlo could have played TE at USC...
Travis Sawchik
1:20
We're putting together a decent team here
Jim Lahey
1:20
Judge had TE offers out of HS on the west coast. MW schools though I think, nothing Pac-12. Lol I have a very random knowledge of things like this
Costanza
1:21
Springer for Carrasco, which side ya want?
Travis Sawchik
1:21
Fantasy, Springer .... Real life, Carrasco

"and all players should perform worse on the road given the strike zone works against them there compared to home" I understand analysis has been done, but considering that umpire crews do not call a stadium home and they travel just as teams do, how can this be explained in context outside of the data?
Travis Sawchik
1:22
Umpires have a bias for the home team/crowd
Keefths
1:23
What's the deal with CarGo ?
Travis Sawchik
1:23
He's always been kind of streaky, right? If sure feels that way
Richie

No corner outfielder is fast enough to play tight end in the NFL. Any one of those under 250 lbs. can RUN!
Travis Sawchik
1:24
I doubt this is true but MLB players don't regularly run 40s

B. Hamilton the return specialist!
Travis Sawchik
1:24
I'd pay to see that
1:25
I would at least change channels to see that
Philbert

Kevin Pillar has had a lot of hot streaks the last couple years, but this is the first time it's come with improved plate discipline numbers (huge drop in O-Swing and increase in Z-Swing). Considering being more patient out of the zone and more aggressive in the zone was a stated goal in the offseason, does a tangible and intentional change in plate discipline numbers suggest the improvements may be more sustainable than otherwise?
Travis Sawchik
1:26
I think so. I think that's what we're seeing with Lindor, this year. Judge, too. That's a signal of a potential major improvement

You are the worst Fangraphs writer
you are the best Fangraphs writer
Travis Sawchik
1:26
That's a wide range of possibilities! I'd be OK with somewhere in between

No one is mentioning Jeff Samardzija in this MLB/NFL conversation. Josh Donaldson was (surprisingly?) an All-State cornerback in high school. And Joe Mauer was a quarterback!
Travis Sawchik
1:27
Samadrzija is probably the best potential footballer we've mentioned. He was great at Notre Dame. Donaldson! So scrappy
Larry Williams
1:28
Jeff Francour was headed to Clemson.
Hannah Hochevar
1:28
Danny Duffy's velo is down, contact is up, but his SwStr rate is high. Is he cruising for a bruising or ready to prove the doubters wrong?
Travis Sawchik
1:29
I'm not concerned yet
Mike
1:29
Bubba Starling still might pull a Brandon Weeden and go play QB at Nebraska before long
Matt
1:29
You are a Fangraphs writer
Travis Sawchik

Yes, I am.
