Thoughts on Bautista? All the projection systems have his power returning for the second half but I am very skeptical.  Contact skills and plate discipline have returned to career norms the last few months but there is a noticeable difference in his hard hit rates this year versus years in the past.

Bautista has tried to do everything in his power to rage against the dying of the light .... but no one I am aware of is immune to the effects of time
12:56
We start losing visual acuity at Age 29 ... which might make it difficult for hitters to improve performance deeper into careers as have athletes in other sports

Anything you disagree with on the Trade Value list so far?
Travis Sawchik
12:57
Dave does a great job of the list. It's my favorite series of the year at FG
12:59
There are always cases to made for certain players that just miss the cut .... I've always been a Brandon Belt fan. I'd love to see what his perceived value would be in a different home ballpark

With Marte coming back shortly, can you foresee the Pirates bolstering the pen in order to make a run at this thing?  I'm not convinced that they're worse than any of the three teams currently above them in the division with Marte back in the lineup.

The division is a real mess, so that's a real opportunity .... I wouldn't want to bet too much on this team, but I don't think blowing it up would make much sense

How brilliant was that Jose Ramirez extension before the season started?
Travis Sawchik
1:00
5y/$26m and two club options? Unreal. Ramirez has almost been worth that deal in half a season

Prior to last week, folks were still singing the praises of Yonder Alonso, even though he didn't do anything in June.  Then last week he heated back up.  What do you see him doing ROS?
Travis Sawchik
1:01
Being an above-average offensive player ... This is a new performance level

I am excited to see how close Jose Ramirez is to Francisco Lindor on the Trade Value list.  As a tribe fan I consider them 1a and 1b in terms of value to the team, but lindor has the name and ramirez has the production.
Travis Sawchik
1:02
I've seen the list. I could tell you but I'd have to ...
1:03
For me, Lindor is still more valuable since he's an elite SS defender ....but Ramirez is one of the most valuable assets in the game. Indians have the most valuable left of the infield in the game, right?

What is the market for Jose Abreu? He's having a pretty nice season on a pretty cheap contract but who needs a 1B? Dodgers, Yanks, Stros?
Travis Sawchik
1:04
It's just not a great market for bats
Dabo Swinney

Hey, Travis. You think we're gonna play for another national championship this year?  I do.
Travis Sawchik
1:04
Hey, Dabo. I think you're gonna miss Mr. Watson

Cueto, what gives? Is this a mirage or has something changed for him? Any hope for a turn around this year?
Travis Sawchik
1:05
He's pitched 1,751 career innings ..... That's a lot of mileage

The Mets are losing lots of players after this year.  They have not shown the willingness to spend in the recent past.  Should they do a complete tear-down? I am mostly thinking they could get a good haul for DeGrom, if they decided to go that way.  I just can't see this team being competitive next year
Travis Sawchik

'd be pretty aggressive in a tear down
I'd explore the market for deGrom and hope to be overwhelmed

Does Avila + Norris for Addison Russel sound ok?
Travis Sawchik
1:07
I'm keeping Russell if I'm the Cubs ... Still has a chance to be an elite two-way shortstop. Those don't grow on trees

The Mets have a lot of trade chips, albeit not many of significant value. Who do you think they should definitely find a way to move and at least get *something* for?
Travis Sawchik
1:07
I do!

Could Aaron Nola ever be a top 30 starting pitcher?
Travis Sawchik
1:08
Yeah, in fact. He might already be there

"Dave does a great job of the list. It's my favorite series of the year at FG" - Dave doesn't read these chats...give us a hot take!
Travis Sawchik
1:08
Ha. He might!
Justin Turner could be in my top 50

Do you think Ian Desmond will rebound in the second half? The Rockies have been surprisingly anemic offensively.
Travis Sawchik
1:09
Rockies need Desmond and CarGo to get going, for sure

Do you think that Taillon's injury history will preclude him from Cameron's trade value list?  What sort of trade value would you peg him as having?
Travis Sawchik
1:09
I don't. A lot of value. Stay tuned!

I read somewhere that Javy Baez grew up playing CF and would still love to play there.  Assuming Almora doesn't break through with the bat, should the Cubs move Baez there to solve that hole or is his glove too valuable in the infield?  Of course, you could argue Almora's glove in the OF makes up for his mediocre hitting and nothing should be done.
Travis Sawchik

I'd place more defensive value at infield positions than CF at Wrigley ...
