Isn’t all the changes in baseball philosophy over the past decade (fly ball revolution, bullpen usage, etc) the reason why the game is the greatest? It’s constantly evolving but still the same basic game.
Travis Sawchik
12:43
Fascinating changes ... but it's never changed so quickly, so fast, and I do think the lack of balls in play is a problem

If the Mets fall out of it will Jason deGrom be the most sought after commodity?
Travis Sawchik
12:43
In that scenario, I'd be taking offers if I'm the Mets
Roger Sterling
12:44
Who you got for first pick in the Montreal/Portland expansion draft?
Travis Sawchik
12:44
I really want to see another expansion draft

The trick to the sunflower seeds - store a small handful (like 10-12) in one side of your mouth. Transfer one seed to the empty side of your mouth and crack it with the teeth on that side. Extract the seed from the shell with your tongue, spit the seed into an empty paper cup and then repeat! Work on the small things and then you can work up to a whole mouthful! Good luck!

Where have you been all my life,  John?

I loved that story about your Billy hamilton idea! Do those types of conversations happen between players and media often?
Travis Sawchik
12:46
Thanks! ... Not often, but on occasion. I know Eno had some similar experiences

MR. Sawchik, are you more excited for the season to start or more mildly disappointed that you now have to leave your house for work, where in the offseason it can pretty much be 100% working from the comfort of your idyllic midwestern home?
Travis Sawchik
12:47
I'm very in favor of the season starting. I like to get out of the house and mix up work environments (It also helps I don't have to be at the park until 1 am like the beat scribes )

Joey Votto is the Messiah
Travis Sawchik
12:47
I cannot say for sure that he's not. After all, he's not aging

12:47
Wouldn’t the Hamilton experiment work best in a playoff scenario?
Travis Sawchik
12:48
It could definitely work with WC rosters

When is baseball gonna shorten the season to 154 and create a tournament for non-playoff teams to play for draft position?
Travis Sawchik
12:48
If tanking continues, this would be fun

12:48
When is Roger Cormier going to get a chat? Dude needs a chat.
Travis Sawchik
12:48
That would be lit, as the kids say

Is it reasonable to expect Greg Bird to hit 35-40 Home Runs this year if he's hitting behind Judge and Stanton? I look at him and see the next Aaron Judge. I know, it's a lazy comparison b/c they are both in NY but respectively, Judge and Bird both crushed the ball in relatively small sample sizes in 2016 and 2017. Example: 2016 Judge had an average exit velo of 95.5 with a launch angle of 19.4 over 42 events. 2017 Bird had a lower exit velo but it was still top 30 at 90.8, with a launch angle of 19.0 in 95 events. If I'm a Yankees fan (which I'm not), I am really excited about Bird.
Travis Sawchik
12:48
I'm all in on Greg Bird
12:49
If he stays healthy he's going to hit 35 HRs

How much longer will/can the Orioles wait for the cost of Cobb or Lynn to drop even more?  Or, do they really believe that some combination of Tillman, Cortes, Wright, and Castro can fill the last two spots in their rotation?
Travis Sawchik
12:49
If the Orioles really want to having a puncher's chance in the last year of Machado, they should be signing all available arms

Am i wrong to think Bellinger is capable of taking a big step forward? Think people are sleeping on him a bit, could see him making legit strides to knock down that K rate considering his elite athleticism.
Travis Sawchik
12:51
It would be interesting if he knocked his K rate down like Kris Bryant did

I know we're not supposed to care about ST stats but Fernando Tatis has a 1.000+ OPS right now and he just turned 19.

12:52
This is why Dave left us
I LOVE the top 10 prospect class this year, overall, in the game
Lot of unique talent

12:53
how do you feel about Lester's new plan of practicing the "Jordan/Pippen bounce pass" strategy for throws to first? at that point, aren't you running a higher risk of error and advance to scoring position than actually picking the guy off?
Travis Sawchik
12:53
Wait, what?
Is this a thing?

Were the total moves by Cashman of buying low on Chapman, selling high and then resigning him up there with one of the best GM moves ever?
Travis Sawchik
12:53
I love what Cashman has done in NYY over the last couple of seasons
Mat
12:53
What can we expect from Conforto this year? Over/Under 450 PA?
Travis Sawchik
12:54
It's such an unusual hitter injury I think we need to see him first
It's a shame because I loved the swing pre-injury

12:54
What do you expect from Zack Greinke this year? Does regression overpower the effect of the humidor? Or is it reasonable to expect 2017 numbers?
