University of Arkansas Parking Q&A

It depends on if there's space available in the area you've moved to. You can always contact us at parking@uark.edu in a situation like this and we'll be glad to help you out!
Laura

If for some reason, you change resident halls, what happens with the parking?
Drew Watzke
9:56
With less than 5 minutes left, we just want to say thank you for joining and we are excited to see you on campus this fall! We will continue answering questions until 10:00.

Safe Ride is free for all students!
Sophia
9:55
What's the price of a Safe Ride? is it like a taxi?
Drew Watzke
9:55
Yes, email offers will not be sent to Cardinal residents
Noah
9:55
So should I not expect an email from the university about parking somewhere else on campus? Is my only option general or economy parking? Thank you.
Drew Watzke
9:55
It is based on when the housing contract was signed, not on roommate selection
Elisabeth
9:55
Are offers for parking based on the date when Phase 1 housing contract was signed/deposit made or when Phase 4 dorm and roommate selection was completed?  Thanks
Drew Watzke
9:54
Our buses end service at 11 p.m. However, we do have Safe Ride that runs until 1:00 a.m. on Mon-Tues and 3:00 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday. The phone number for Safe Ride is 479-575-7233 (SAFE)
Sophia
9:54
Do buses stop running at certain times of night? Like, if you stayed out late at the library, would you have to find a different way back to the dorm because the buses stopped?
Drew Watzke
9:51
They do not. The directors of those groups might be able to tell you what students in those groups typically do for game days
Lisa Hale
9:51
Do band, cheer, and spirit groups associated with games have other options such as an athletic pass for certain lots?
Drew Watzke
9:50
Yes! Our buses run all through campus
Sophia
9:50
Are parking options all near bus routes?
Drew Watzke
9:49
The garage at the Cardinal is not owned by the university, so the apartment complex sells permits separately.
There is no university resident parking available for those living at the Cardinal unfortunately. You can purchase a general student or economy permit through the university, if you would like to, starting July 28.

I have housing at the Cardinal through the university and have military benefits through the state of Arkansas that pays for housing and parking. Will I receive an email with a parking offer? I received notification from the Cardinal that they had paid parking there but it had to come out of pocket and not through university account.
Drew Watzke
9:47
No, blue reserved lots are only for faculty/staff members
Sophia
9:47
Who are all the reserved parking lots for? If you're a student, would you ever be able to get a pass there?
Drew Watzke
9:47
Resident offers are very popular. Just keep checking your UARK email!
Laura
9:47
Do Resident Reserved spots go quickly for Pomfret?
Drew Watzke
9:42
Yes, as well as Lot 500
Sophia
9:42
Are those lots (320-322) the only other places resident/garage passes can park?
Drew Watzke
9:41
Route 48 runs to the orange lot. It is scheduled to make a trip every 15 minutes during operating hours, Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Lisa Hale
9:41
What buses or transportation run to the orange lots? If our student needs to park there on game days, how do they easily get to their car in the orange lot?
Drew Watzke
9:40
At all times! However, those lots do have to be vacated for football and men's basketball games, so make sure you don't park there before a game.
Sophia
9:40
Can a student with resident or garage parking always park in lots 320-322, or just if their regular spots are full?
Drew Watzke
9:38
That's correct. And if you receive a resident or garage offer after purchasing a general permit you can always accept it and upgrade your permit type
Kristen
9:38
So if you do not get an offer by July  28th - you should apply for general parking and pay for it then if you want to have a place to park?  And that is the "green" and "orange" lots.   - It's not resident "purple" - but allows for the other.  For all games - you do have to move out of the green lots - and would likely move to the orange.  Is that all correct?
Drew Watzke
9:35
Hourly parking is $2.15/hr
Sophia
9:35
What is the price of paid parking in each garage?
Drew Watzke
9:34
Yes!
Sarah
9:34
Is there security or lighting at night?
Drew Watzke
9:34
We do not oversell resident parking lots, so you should always have a space to park in. If you do not, you can park in lots 320, 321, 322. Call parking at 479-575-7275 to let them know someone is illegally parked in your resident lot.

No, a garage permit will only let you park in that specific garage.
Sophia
9:34
What happens if you get a permit for a certain location but all the parking spots are full when you show up? Are there alternatives? Also, for garage passes, is it just for one garage that's closest to your dorm, or can it be used in all garages?
Drew Watzke
9:32
No, a garage permit will only let you park in that specific garage. The garage will be located near the residence hall.
C
9:32
So if you get a Garage permit can you still park at the Residence Hall you are staying
Drew Watzke
9:32
Students will receive an email at the beginning of the season including each date that vehicles must be vacated.
We will also post on social media the day of each game to remind students to move their vehicles.

Do our students get notified when they would need to move their vehicle for game day and how are they notified?  If notified, how long in advance are they sent notification?
Drew Watzke
9:30
You have until the following day at 11:59 p.m. from when the offer was sent.
