Maddon would have been fine. Honestly if you're going to use the US manager job to give somebody his first taste of the bright lights and pressure, it probably doesn't need to be the Ivy-educated white guy who already has a job at MLB Network. Give me more Benji Gil/Hensley Meulens types who should already be MLB managers

Also - the last LHP on the roster + low leverage + Japan has a LLLLL part of the lineup. I'm Japanese and I'm happy to see the US manage like this but I would've kept him for higher leverage situation

That's amazing. The few times I've had walk-up music, I had to recalibrate it. I picked "Run Run Run" by VU, but it got my heart going too fast. I had to pick something more mellow.
