Gonsolin giving up 2 hard hits in the 1st & just not locating well

Snell is zoned in & is pounding the Dodgers w/ the high fastball. Not a good situation for the Dodgers to be in
Dodger Fan

"Go sit down you idiot!"
Paul Sporer
8:38
Very early. I think Gonsolin might finally get a chance to settle in

I'd shoot a flare gun in the air for my strike call
Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes

curdled blood sounds really gross... but appropriate for this time of year I suppose
Tampa Bay Rays Liotta

Throat slashing gesture and a loud sneeze

"YYYESSSSSIIIIIRRREEEEE.  That's a strike"
Dave Roberts
8:38
"that's a strike bitch"
VK Ratliff

If clutch is a skill, Willy Adames hasn't had it this postseason

Like... are we supposed to believe players "choose" to be better sometimes
AvatarDavid Laurila
8:39
If no one caught my William Blake reference earlier, that's OK.
Paul Sporer
8:39
Not necessarily *choose*, but you can't fathom the notion of some having more ability regulate themselves in the highest pressure situations and continue to perform at their best?
Dodger Fan
8:39
Lots of hard contact wow
BettsBellingerCaruso
8:39
I think Gonsolin just shouldn't throw the fastball as much

10 swings and 1 whiff on the fastball now
Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes
8:39
I caught it, but my first thought was those amazing David Axelrod albums because I'm an uncultured swine.
AvatarDavid Laurila
8:40
Kiermaier is quietly having a really good Series.
Dave Roberts
8:40
I think definitionally a player can't exceed their potential. Someone that is systematically better in important situations is necessarily underperforming in mundane situations.
Tony Wolfe
8:40
I was just gonna say the same thing David
Paul Sporer
8:40
Wait, what? Who says that being clutch means you're trash in low leverage situations? Papi for example was just always great
You also have to get the opportunities to display clutch
Tony Wolfe
8:40
Hadn't done a lot before this, but he's looked great the last week
Tampa Bay Rays Liotta
8:40
What reference?
AvatarDavid Laurila

Songs of Innocence and of Experience.
Paul Sporer
8:41
For me it's just always going to be backward looking but you could never convince me Papi wasn't clutch af
Sam
8:41
Was unaware Kiermaier could hit a ball 112
Paul Sporer
8:41
Wait, why's that?
Dodger Fan
8:41
Kiermaier is having a good series at medium volume
Paul Sporer
8:42
Ya he's been excellent
Impossibly good looking, too, just doesn't seem fair lol
Tony Wolfe
8:42
Baseball Savant says that 111.6 mph exit velo was Kiermaier's best since 2015.
Paul Sporer
8:44
OK, moving on from the clutch thing. Kinda getting circular with nothing really being hashed out
Jordan
8:44
Thanks to MLB's inability to schedule a WS game that wraps up before 12am east time this is yet another game I wont get to see to completion, Thanks MLB

Gonsolin pitch usage:

47% 4seam 10 swings 1 whiff 102.4 avg EV
35% splitter 6 swings 4 whiffs 96.3 avg EV
18% slider 5 swings 2 whiffs 103.3 avg EV

What's the longest any player has gone without a hit in the World Series? I have to think Zunino's close to that record

Dylan Floro is warming up

Things tend to get circular when minds are already made up
Tony Wolfe

If there were ever a time for the Rays to spend big, they could really use Realmuto to plug in behind the plate
