@Anonymous there's a difference between not doing too well and not meeting the requirements - it's down to Universities as to what their requirements are. I believe Emily was talking about her UKCAT when she said she didn't do too well, which isn't what Leeds use to make their decisions, so it doesn't quite translate as Leeds is where she ended up!

@molly thank you, also when you say that I can talk about things in more detail in my interview do I write that In my personal statement or will the just ask me

To gain an A* in A level biology chemistry and psychology what tips and how much time to revise would you advice

So what score would I need on bmat

@Hassaan you wouldn't say that specifically in your statement, no. What I mean is that if there's anything you can't fit in to your statement then you can use it to answer questions at interview, and if there's something you put in very briefly in your statement, you may then be asked to expand on that.

Does anyone here do Core Maths (mathematical studies ) have any tips on revision or recommend any books

Hi Anon, the score you will need depends from year to year and it also depends on who else takes the test and how well they do. Different universities will also consider different scores. Remember this forms just a part of your overall application that you'll be considered on

Hi @Guest333, this depends on your natural ability in these subjects. However you feel about them, obviously A* is the very best you can achieve so understandably you will need to do YOUR very best to stand a chance at achieving these results. If you enjoy the subjects you may find it easier to revise for them. But all I would advise is revise as much as you can, but not so much that you stress or it becomes detrimental to your health. Do what you can, remember to take regular revision breaks, drink lots of water, eat healthy and play sports or get outside in the fresh air to feel refreshed and well at all times :-)

JUST 10 MINUTES LEFT TO GET YOUR QUESTIONS IN!
Quick fire round maybe?

Hi @Guest! I studied Maths at A Level - I would say the best form of revision is to just keep going through past papers, as practicing questions is the best form of revision really! Exam board exercise books can be useful too for extra practice material but it depends what board you are studying with. I hope that helps!

I’m studying sociology but my teachers said that they’ve never had someone study it and go into medicine, is this true (my other subjects are biology and chemistry)
AvatarEmily

Hi Muhammad!  You will get more information about the access to Leeds scheme on the summer school! Yes, the grades go down by two so if you need AAA it will lower to ABB if you complete access to leeds. As a RfE student you will automatically passed over to the access to leeds scheme and we will talk to you more about this in year 13!

@Guest there's a first time for everything! As long as you meet the requirements (usually the Chemistry A Level which you've got) and your predicted grades are good then there's no reason why Sociology would stop you being offered a place.

If you are not attending summer school is it quite a loss in information also could you still have access to resources they provide

Last question, what will the summer school residential be like and is it compulsory to stay in the university?
AvatarMolly

@Mur it is compulsory to stay unless you have pre arranged this with our team, and the residential will be a very intense and very very fun week with loads of stuff to do! It was my favourite week of last year to work, so I'm really looking forward to it!

And that's all folks! Thanks so much for your questions, don't forget to register your attendance and we'll see you next time!
