Hey @Umaimah, great question! It's super personal for everyone, but I'd say a good marker is having a genuine interest in your subject and a desire to study it at a higher level. Even if you aren't sure to begin with, if you've got a hunch, or even just some skills and interests that you think might be leading you in a particular direction, that would be my way of telling that you're on the right path

What do you do when you’re really torn between doing two degrees that cane be done as joint honours?
AvatarHaaroon

@Zara the things that I considered when selecting my degree were which A-levels that I was studying that I enjoyed the most, which bits in the subjects I was studying I found most interesting, I had a look at what careers I wanted to do and what degree I would need and it all pointed towards one set of degrees. I then looked at course finder on different university websites and contacted a few to gain more information. I also think attending Open Days is really important. It will be virtual Open Days for you, but still they will give you the same info

what factors should we consider before picking a degree and if we don't like it can we swap it out
AvatarMolly
4:07
@Ebrima - this is super tricky. I would really recommend speaking to as many people as you can about your decision, and research not just the course content but also the career options for after you finish your studies, and try to imagine yourself doing one or the other. You should also consider things like work/life balance (both on the course and afterwards), and what opportunities there are for progression in both fields.

What are some important questions to ask before choosing your degree to make sure it is the right one for you?
AvatarMolly
4:10
@Zara - I would be thinking about the skills you have that make you suited to the course, and asking yourself if you have a real interest in what you will be studying. It can be easy to just choose something because x y or z person has said it's a good idea, but only you can know if something is the right fit for you. If you are genuinely interested in the subject and want to study it further, then to me that says it's the right thing for you.

@Luanna, consider what career you would like to do and see what degrees you need to, do some extra reading around the subject you are interested in, attend Open Days. Yes, it is possible to switch courses when you begin University. Here at Leeds it is easily done if you are sticking to the same department for example you started studying Management but wanted to change to Marketing. As they are both in the Business School the change would be relatively easy.

Does the university of Leeds accept some of the GCSE grade to be at pending for November re-sit?

For my fifth choice, am I allowed to apply for a different course in the same uni I have applied for medicine?
AvatarHaaroon
4:12
@Ahmed, it would depend on the course. I imagine they would make it a part of your offer
AvatarMolly
4:12
@Noor - absolutely! You can apply to any combination of courses and unis.

HI everyone, I plan on doing a criminology degree at university but there are many courses that are joint degrees e.g. criminology with psychology, criminology with sociology. How do you know if one of those is right for you?
4:13
Can you change course if you're not enjoying it?
