I don't read the day-to-day Boston takes on him, so maybe he's been getting beat up more than I've seen, but I haven't seen a whole lot of people shredding him. Price has been fine, just not the consistently dominant ace he was signed to be. He's been useful and will end up with an ERA in the mid-3.00s when all is said and done, I think. Boston was hoping for more, but he hasn't been a disaster or anything and I'm not sure anyone's making him out to be one.

What are your thoughts on the Arizona front office? Is La Russa/Stewart combo on their way out?

I don't see any way Kendrick and Hall can sit back and think, "Yep things are trending up here!" The Stewart and La Russa hires looked like bad ideas from the get-go and they've lived up to that. They replaced one crazy old-school GM (Kevin Towers) with another pair of them. I haven't liked much that the D-backs have done, transaction-wise, in the past 4-5 years honestly.

Doesn't have to be an either-or. They could trade him and then re-sign him, or they could just look for a better option on the trade/free agent market. Suzuki's been fine, but he's a poor defensive catcher whose offensive success is largely dependent on his BABIP due to a lack of power. I'd look for an upgrade this winter and consider him something like Plan C or Plan D.

I don't know that he had a ton of trade value to begin with -- hence not trading him in July. I think the talk of releasing him is silly -- he's too good of a hitter -- but I'd think an offseason deal is likelier than an August swap at this point.

Just out of curiosity let's say Miller returns to last year's form for the remainder of his contract, Blair flames out, Swanson turns into a good but not great every day player, and Inciarte remains one. What will the trade look like?

A. That's a lot to happen.
B. Miller wasn't even particularly good from June through season's end last year.
C. If Swanson and Inciarte are good, it still looks like a bad trade, and that still wouldn't change the fact that they wildly overpaid.

Dipoto said they'd be in the thick of the August trade market. He's made a pair of deals so far, and I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect him to look at adding another OF or bullpen arm before Aug. 31.

How much salary are the Yankees eating? I can't see them getting any sort of prospect value in return unless they eat at least half the money on the deal, and even then I don't think they'd get a top-tier minor league talent.

Had another shot with the Padres this past offseason. I assume he'll get some more interviews this winter, yeah.

I don't know that Gardenhire is a great manager. He's a good clubhouse motivator and his players loved him in MN, but having watched him manage regularly for the past decade-plus as a Minnesota resident, his in-game decisions were consistently baffling to me.

Suzuki is the guy that makes some sense, but I believe that they're content with the defensive-minded options they currently have. Suzuki is really bad back there, and the importance of the extra strikes their pitchers would get with Gomes/Perez, plus their vastly superior ability to control the running game, will be of magnified importance in the postseason.

I don't see why not, unless Reinsdorf is completely averse to letting Hahn make any "seller" moves beyond the Duke trade. His $13MM salary for next season looks just fine with how well he's been hitting since last summer, but there's enough money left on the deal that he probably clears waivers.

How worried should the Mets be about their pitchers and the fact that 4 of their big 5 are injured?

The Mets' current plight is a perfect example of why I tell people who say things like "In three years how good it [team]'s rotation going to be??" as they bank on three prospects/young starters completely panning out.

The Mets should be worried, but there's no way they were totally banking on all of them to stay totally healthy and pan out. They have some decent depth and money to spend.

Plus, at last Syndergaard and Matz are just dealing with spurs (a tiny one, in Thor's case)
