Jeffrey Todd

Whoa! Really sorry I am starting so late today, y'all. Was hanging with my kids and spaced out.
Doesn't help that I lost my phone. Dang it.
Drop some questions and we'll get rolling ...
Daniel
2:38
Is Revere an option for the Jays?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Ehhh ... with Carrera on hand and Pillar installed in center, it isn't perfect. Even if they get one regular corner guy, they have the lefty bat to platoon with some other righty hitter.
2:40
Think he might be able to find a better playing time oppo elsewhere, which is likely a priority. He's still young and could reestablish a lot of value.
Ryan
2:40
How much does Mike Dunn improve the Rockies' bullpen?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
I mean, he's a good arm. Ya hate to pay that much given his age, etc, but that's what the Rockies have to do.
He is a variation on Logan, who had really great K numbers in Colorado. Dunn also gets whiffs, throws hard, etc, but there are injury questions and he's hardly been a shutdown guy of late.

2:41
where will EE and bautista land?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
I'm still mystified on EE, but kind of have fallen in love with the idea of the Rockies trading CarGo for another arm, freeing cash to provide a one-year landing spot for Bautista (first base).
Will
2:42
What team would be willing to trade for McCarthy or Kazmir?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Lots, depending upon how much cash LAD will eat.
Question is whether they think they can't keep both on their roster. More likely, perhaps, they let camp play out at least a while. Maybe start Urias at Triple-A (I'm assuming they will do that with De Leon) and let things run a while.
Eric
2:44
Feelings on the rumors of you going to Fangraphs?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
I'm just not going to answer this question over and over. They made a nice offer, discussions are ongoing, nothing new to report.
($40MM.)
(That's not happening.)

2:44
Hey jeff, whats the likelihood of the dozier trade happening?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
More likely than me going to Fangraphs, I guess. Still makes better sense than Kinsler, just b/c of the no-trade protection he has.
2:46
I still am unsure whether the Dodgers will really give something that gets the Twins excited. If they don't, I'd have to think the new FO won't mind the idea of keeping a very marketable player, esp since their young talent still leaves them some upside.
Carolina
2:46
How do the Yanks address their SP needs?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
That's a darn good question. I guess a reunion with Nova doesn't seem terribly likely, since they were willing to punt him last year. Otherwise, the market is fairly bleak. Those Dodgers hurlers mentioned wouldn't be bad ideas if the Yanks will take on a bit of salary, and there could be some other guys who shake loose.
Alex
2:47
Greetings from Costa Rica! Any idea what is going on with Wieters? Does he eventually fall to the braves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
It's cold here, don't rub it in dude!
2:48
Tough spot for Wieters right now. I have a hard time seeing him getting the money he'd like.
2:49
ATL could be a landing spot, but doubt they'll offer a big contract. How about the Athletics? They've made surprise multi-year plays before. White Sox are still willing to take on some salary and have some young pitchers to bring along.
RObby
2:49
What kind of package would the Yankees have to pay for DRob?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Well, I don't think the Yankees are going to go after him.
2:50
But for other teams, it depends as ever on CWS' willingness to keep cash. Maybe their stance is that they'd rather do that and buy prospects -- if nobody will, they can hold for the deadline -- which then puts the question to those teams (esp the Nationals): are you willing to give up real talent for Robertson?
2:51
I'm not convinced that the White Sox will get a truly significant asset back, but I guess they have an outside shot at like a top-100 type prospect?
His loss of control was a big change to his profile.
Brian
2:51
Why do you think Fangraphs currently projects the Angels to win 85 games and the Rangers 82 games next season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Math.
2:53
But seriously, I haven't looked closely. Those really shouldn't be read as strict expectations, so much as a guide. Particularly when you consider that the Rangers likely feel better about their relief guys' ability to snatch close games, Profar to step up a bit, etc.
Don't sleep on the Angels, though. A few breaks in the staff in the right direction and they could be a contender. Mike Trout is always a good starting point.
Jacob
2:53
Which relievers, if any, do the Cubs go after now?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Do they need more?
Nathan
2:54
What are the chances that the Cardinals make another impactful move?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
I'd guess low unless there's a real buying opportunity or someone offers a lot for one of their starters (less likely with Garcia already dealt).
