Rays aren't going to sell low on Archer ... if they can't get a nice value for him, they'll just hold him. He's controlled three more years beyond '18
Tyrone
4:20
Darren oday to Dodgers?
Steve Adams
4:20
He's out for the season after hamstring surgery, so guessing he's not high on their list :)
Rocco Rox
4:20
are the Rockies in trouble? what do they do for an upgrade?
Steve Adams
4:21
I really can't see them overtaking the Dodgers or D-backs. They could use help at so many places -- bullpen, first base, catcher, etc. ... there are a lot of weaknesses on that club. I think they're fortunate to be two games over .500

Cubs #1 prospect has a serious lat injury, #3 just got suspended for PEDs, farm system as a whole not viewed as overly strong, can they even make a big splash move if they wanted to?
Steve Adams
4:22
Sure, but the more hits that farm takes, the more they'd need to be willing to consider guys on the MLB roster.
4:23
Which they don't sound super excited about doing, understandably. I think they'll make some smaller-scale upgrades, but not expecting a Machado or deGrom to go to the Cubs.

Could the cardinals make a run for an unhappy arenado
Steve Adams
4:24
Rox' front office hasn't shown any inclination to sell, and even if they did, I think they'd focus more on rental assets. If Arenado goes anywhere, it'd be in the offseason or at next year's deadline.
I can basically see the Machado saga playing out all over again in 2019 with Arenado. (Though Rockies won't be -- or shouldn't be -- as bad as the 2018 O's)

4:25
Keeping it simple, where does Machado end up?
Steve Adams
4:25
My guess at this point is the Brewers, but obviously no one *knows* where he's going to end up.

How big of a hit is this year taking on Donaldson's free agency?
Steve Adams
4:26
Enormous
I've said in recent weeks -- he's approaching "accept a qualifying offer" territory at this point

Do you see folty or newk as an ace of a staff or solid number 2 and 3
Steve Adams
4:27
I don't think either has good enough control to be a bona fide No. 1 starter, but both seem like nice mid-rotation pieces for the forseeable future
Mark Shapiro
4:28
With so much interest in Machado, can I get anything worthwhile for Josh Donaldson?
Steve Adams
4:29
They shut him down completely for 3 weeks recently. He may very well be on the DL at the deadline.
His salary would clear waivers in August, though, but I don't think the Jays would get much for him at this point

What's the best level of prospect Harvey brings?
Steve Adams
4:31
If we're using letter grades -- maybe a C? Some 40- or 45-grade type of guy on the 20-80 scale? I don't think it'll be a whole lot.

Most likely to be traded: Dickerson or Polanco?
Steve Adams
4:31
Dickerson -- free agent after 2019
Mets fan
4:31
Does Jeurys go? If so, where?
Steve Adams
4:32
He does, but there's no way of knowing where. It's a boring answer and you can call it a cop-out, but even the Mets don't know where they're going to trade him right now. Basically every contender will be looking for 'pen help
GM
4:32
What's the worst contract now that Hanley & Panda have been cut?  Puljos, Chris Davis, Ellsbury, Desmond or other?
Steve Adams
4:32
Miguel Cabrera.
4:33
Chris Davis and Albert Pujols, too
Zac
4:34
Is Mike Fiers an under the radar trade candidate since he has that extra year?
Steve Adams
4:35
I wouldn't call him under-the-radar at all. The Tigers signed him hoping he'd pitch decently and be a trade piece. That's exactly what's happening. He makes plenty of sense for a team in a bigger park that needs to stabilize its rotation but can't pay a huge price to add a SP. (Mariners?)
Levi
4:35
What would a package for J.T. Realmuto look like without the Brewers giving up Hiura?
Steve Adams
4:36
Pick some combo of Burnes, Peralta, Woodruff and Ortiz to start and add from there.

4:36
Does Markakis get a qualifying offer?
Steve Adams
4:37
Doubt it. He'd probably accept and I don't think they'd want him at 1/18. His season has been really nice, but he's still a 35-year-old corner OF -- that hasn't been paid handsomely on the FA market in recent years.
GM
4:37
OK -- so you like that Ellsbury contract???
Steve Adams
4:37
Of course not. But I think the three I listed are worse. Ellsbury's deal is done after 2020
Steve Adams
4:38
All Star snub that was outrageous?
Steve Adams
4:38
I don't get too worked up about All-Star snubs and whatnot. Most of them eventually get in anyway. Realmuto should've been a starter, and Blake Snell and Eddie Rosario should've gotten in right off the bat, off the top of my head
