Felix isn't where he wants to be right now
Craig Edwards

If Iglesias can keep the fastball down and in to lefties and still get strikes, he could be all right, but putting an offspeed pitch there, like he did to Galvis is going to get him in trouble.
Jeff Sullivan
4:45
I see the Giants/Brewers game is still happening
jon
4:45
what would it take for Philly to cut Howard?
Craig Edwards
4:47
not sure i see it happening. They aren't likely to win, he was a big part of the org for a long time, and unless Franco can't play anywhere else, they don't have anyone who will force their hand. I could see them paying someone all of the money he is owed if he proves even remotely useful later this year.
George Harrison

People are talking about the Astros as a team that should contend now (and rightly so), but if they do end up having more of a consolidation of talent this season (say, .500), is that really the end of the world?
Jeff Sullivan
4:47
No, because they're not a short-term team, but it would be a pretty big disappointment.
Erik
4:47
Would Howard have a job this year if his contract had expired last year? Is he even worth a platoon DH spot?
Jeff Sullivan

The definition of a "just-enough" homer was that Galvis hit off Iglesias
Jeff Sullivan
4:48
Sounds like every homer by Galvis

Is Raisel the most frustrating pitcher to watch in the MLB? All of the stuff is there and his K's are elite but he just can't keep the ball in the park. Do you see a breakout this year or just more of the same high 3's ERA and FIP?
Jeff Sullivan
4:49
Wonderful spinning play there by Andrus
Craig Edwards
4:50
i was a little skeptical last year that with his delivery he would be able to make it through a lineup multiple times. I'm not sure about a breakout, but average to slightly above is a reasonable expectation for this year
I think many saw him as a reliever, so that he has done this well so far, is a good outcome for him.
Well-Beered Englishman

I think the most frustrating pitcher to watch in the MLB would be somebody with terrible stuff, an oozing pace, and maybe pitch-to-contact tendencies.
Jeff Sullivan
4:52
Craig, you comfortable here to take over?
Craig Edwards
4:52
Anybody come to mind?
sure thing
Jeff Sullivan
4:52
Thanks! So long everybody! Have a wonderful rest of opening weekday!
Kvn
4:52
Tillman hitting mid 90s. Pretty good sign.
Ben
4:52
when you see these opening day games Postponed, does it not make you scratch your head why 2 dome teams are playing each other in Tampa?? There has to be a better way to schedule opening series to minimize these postponed games.
Craig Edwards
4:53
It definitely is frustrating, but generally speaking, attendance is better in the summer so teams don't want their home games frontloaded.
4:54
i think there is reasonable middle-ground, but I'm here in Chicago, went to a miserable OD at Wrigley last year, and it has been snowing outside today.
it might be better to just wait another week to start the season.

Thanks Jeff
craig
4:54
have you met derrick goold before?
Craig Edwards
4:54
no we have not met
Adrian
4:54
Have y'all found out that Gray won't be pitching tonight? what a great match-up - poof
Craig Edwards
4:55
seeing if rich hill is a mirage isn't a terrible consolation prize

Dice-K was the Platonic frustrating pitcher. He cannot be surpassed
LudeBurger
4:55
Are we Fangraphers or a Fangraphsers?
Kvn
4:55
Carson isn't coming back, is he?
Craig Edwards
4:56
in a way, he never really left.
Ben
4:56
I know we would all love an extra week of spring training
Craig Edwards
4:56
presumably it would start later as well. There really isn't a great solution with a 162 game season and three rounds of playoffs.
John
4:56
Eovaldi is also pretty frustrating. He should be an ace and instead he's a #4
Bad Hermit
4:57
I can't think of a rea$on to $tart the $eason later of the top of my head.
Doug Lampert
4:57
Can't delay opening day unless you want to shorten the season, playoffs run too late as it is.
Craig Edwards
4:57
pretty much
