A month sounds good. It's why I think the whole Orioles/Kim situation is ridiculous -- the guy was terrible for the first couple weeks. Even a month is such a small sample, but teams have to look for options when things aren't working out for that long.

Good players usually don't understand why they are good because so much is instinct/talent, bad players probably understand baseball better

There are a lot more mediocre to poor baseball players than good to great ones, I would think that's the primary explanation.

I think, about bad coaches, that it's just the case that most players are bad or mediocre. If coaching ability was evenly distributed among players, most coaches will have been bad players, by MLB standards

Is there a more uninteresting team than the padres? Who do people tune in to watch besides Ross? Myers? Their starting lineup is a collection of bleh. Thank goodness the team they're playing is fun

Since BABIP doesn't actually rely too much on speed, I wouldn't think lack of speed would lead to BABIP regression from Bryant. Batted ball profile matters much more, like IFFB

I put $10 on both the Orioles and the Rays to win the World Series at 50:1 odds. I figure either sabermetrics are bullshit and the Orioles will win, or sabermetrics are right and the Rays will hit the 90+ win projection BP gave them. Am I genius?

I do. Great arm, and probably the most talented option if Doolittle should go down. I am slightly worried about Doolittle. That shoulder surgery is no joke, and he can't ramp it up into the high 90s like he used to be able to.

I thought you meant BABIP regression because he's not fast. I have heard he's got decent speed, but I would think not enough to sustain his BABIP, *if* we thought speed was what predicts BABIP
