Last true team re-naming (Devil Rays to Rays doesn't count) that didn't have to do with a move was the Washington Bullets-->Wizards. I don't remember it well. Were there a lot of similar arguments opposed to the change as we see today with Indians/Redskins?
Paul Swydan
9:55
Well, the St. John's Redmen changed to the Red Storm a long time ago.
9:56
But no, I don't remember having these conversations when I was a kid.

Isn't Heyward the most underrated player in WS at this point?
Paul Swydan
9:56
Probably.

I appreciate guys like you two who evaluate commentators rationally. It's too bad that the inevitable heat death of the universe will phase you, and all life forms, out.

Is Lindor considered a top 3 SS by most? If not then hes probably heavily underrated
Paul Swydan
9:58
Right, North Dakota. That was more recent though.

New Orleans Hornets to Pelicans

To the best of my recollection, there was no hubbub over the Bullets->Wizards switch. The owners just said, "We've decided to change."
Paul Swydan
9:58
No that's not true, they changed it after the murder rate in DC went way up and people complained Bullets was insensitive.
Dave Cameron

Ross dropping the ball a lot tonight.
Paul Swydan
9:59
A lot!

Smoltz really likes Byrant's smile
Dave Cameron

Great change-up.
Paul Swydan
10:00
Do you not? It's an objectively marvelous smile.
Matt

If you don't like Bryant's smile you're a monster

Does Lindor make your "Top 5 Players to Start a Franchise With" today list?
Paul Swydan
10:00
Gotta be close.
Dave Cameron
10:01
There are so many great young players though.
Trout, Harper, Bryant, Machado, Correa, Seager...
Paul Swydan
10:01
Yeah. Trout, Harper, Seager, Bryant. You're already at four there.
Julio Pepper
10:01
Betts!
Paul Swydan
10:02
Mookie, Lindor, Correa, all right there, and Machado too. Lindor is not a slam dunk, but he's worthy of mention.
Dave Cameron
10:02
Alright, here we go.
If Cubs don't get anything here, they might be done.
Need to at least put a dent in it.

Paul, as a BU alum, you should know that Rhett dug up some of Nickerson Field (part of old Braves Field, where the Indians last won the Series), and mailed it to the Indians
PJ

is Miller actually the best reliever in the game or are we just buying into the narrative?
Dave Cameron
10:03
He really is.
Paul Swydan
10:03
I saw that briefly. Good PR move by BU I guess.

I get Miller, but is Allen really unhittable? 3.5 BB/9, 3.31 FIP, 1 WAR in 67 innings this year
Paul Swydan
10:03
Yeah, Miller is ridiculous. Still wish the Sox had ponied up for him in free agency.
Dave Cameron
10:03
His worst year in last three years, but still excellent. Insanely great in prior years. He's really good.
Bork jr
10:04
So obviously contreras in left in game 2 right

10:04
Is it possible to make the WAR graphs work for different stats? With so many incredible young players, I would LOOOVE to see how they compare to greats of the past in all their stats.
JC
10:04
The Cubs traded for Chapman because they preferred him to Miller, yes?
Dave Cameron
10:04
Nope.
