Chapman was fallback when they wouldn't give up Schwarber.

I'd say: (1) Correa, (2) Seager, (3) Lindor, (4) Bogaerts ...
Paul Swydan
10:05
I love Xander Bogaerts -- he's literally my son's and myself's favorite player -- but he doesn't belong on that list.

Dave, lots of comments on the Chris Coghlan article today about how Heyward's mechanics are "clearly" so screwed up that the 100 wRC+ project must be ignored. Thoughts? I don't think most of us know ess about hitting mechanics.
Dave Cameron
10:05
I think the same.
People can't separate mechanics from performance.
All they're really saying is "he's done bad lately"

Are you serious? Murder rates led to the Bullets changing names?
Paul Swydan
10:06
Been a long time, but that's how I remember it, yes.
Miller warming alert!

That two-seamer is really giving lefties trouble tonight
Dave Cameron
10:06
That two-seamer is amazing.
Paul Swydan

Kluber is only at 76 pitches. I wonder if Tito will let him at least start the 7th.
Tom
10:07
I doubt the Cubs really are happy to see Miller
Paul Swydan
10:07
78 now, sorry.
JA
10:07
It's strange to see a pitcher this locked in with only 70+ pitches thrown and the bullpen already going
Crusty Juggler

Guess Napoli's dreams!
Roger
10:08
If you're Francona, are you focused more on saving Kluber for game 4 or Miller for multiple appearances in the coming days?
Dave Cameron
10:08
You're focused on not leaving Kluber in too long to where Miller doesn't have a game to save.
Paul Swydan
10:08
Mike Napoli's Dreams would be a really, really, really great NotGraphs article. #RIPNotGraphs

AN entire NBA game was played before the end of the 5th

Obviously every game in a 7 game series is important to each team, but is a win here more meaningful for the Indians in the grand scheme of things, given they'll be using Bauer/Tomlin/short rest Kluber the next 3?
Dave Cameron
10:09
Yes. Lose this one, you're in a lot of trouble.
Stephen
10:09
I think Indians will ride with Kluber into the 7th, unless he gets into trouble. Try to keep Allen and Miller fairly fresh for tomorrow.
Donut Puncher

How surprised are you that this entire Tebow stunt was to get free PR for his book?
Y'know
10:09
I've fallen into a pool wearing a suit. It is not refreshing or joyous.
Joe McMahon
10:10
Miller, Jansen, Chapman, Britton? In that order?
I assume if Kluber leaves with a low pitch count it will be easier for him to start Game 4.
Dave Cameron
10:10
He's starting Game 4 regardless.
You can't throw Ryan Merritt in the World Series.

three pop ups from rizzo
Paul Swydan
10:11
Probably need Betances in there ahead of Britton.
Dave Cameron
10:12
Nah, Britton is better than Betances.
Ryan
10:12
Still shocked Couglin is starting a World Series game.
Dave Cameron
10:13
He'll be pinch hit for in about 15 minutes.
Joe McMahon
10:13
Dave, no Salazar starting Game 4?
Dave Cameron
10:13
If he's only available for 50ish pitches per outing, more valuable in relief.
Paul Swydan
10:13
He's this series' Tim Lincecum!
Danny

Random question for Dave/Paul; working on a regression analysis project. Can you think of a non-obvious stat (like WAR/ERA/wRC+/BB%) that might have a sneaky strong-ish correlation to team wins? I thought BABIP might but it doesn't really.
Dave Cameron
10:13
RBIs.
