Yep, it does. But Soler is so much better as a hitter than Ross.
Ross can't hit.

Which FG writer would be the best manager? Worst?
Paul Swydan
10:54
Dave would easily be our best in-game manager.
Dave Cameron
10:54
The players would hate me.
August would probably be the best.
Paul Swydan
10:54
I said in-game manager!
Dave Cameron
10:54
They'd hate me in the game too.
Paul Swydan
10:54
Hahaha.
Ghost of Gred Madduxes Past
10:54
Eno would be a good manager, so long as Eric Hosmer wasn't on the team.
Dave Cameron
10:55
He'd get fired after going out drinking with the guys.

Dave, didn't we discount Coghlan earlier today because of his 2016 while ignoring his last couple years? And now we're doing the opposite for Ross?
Paul Swydan
10:55
August is probably right for overall. I feel like Craig Edwards would do well too. He's got that confidence about him you don't see in most of us writers.
Dave Cameron
10:55
I didn't discount Coghlan because of his 2016; i pointed out that if we're ignoring his 2016, we should ignore Heywards too. I was arguing for logical consistency.

Let's say you didn't have to move or anything lifestyle-y like that: Would you (Paul and Dave) take a job opposite Skip Bayless on a show like Indisputable or whatever his new show with Shannon Sharpe is? Let's even say that it's baseball-focused, but you have to interact with him in that manner, every day.

To be fair Coghlan has been fine since coming back to the cubs, Heyward has never gotten out of this funk
Dave Cameron
10:56
This is the dumbest argument of them all. "Coghlan's bad numbers don't count because I didn't watch them."
Paul Swydan
10:56
If I'm getting paid what Bayless is getting paid, absolutely. That's a lot of money.
10:57
Plus I could probably keep writing for FG on the side to keep my street cred.
Dave Cameron
10:57
If you took a job opposite Bayless, we'd fire you for selling out.
Paul Swydan
10:57
Damnit.
Watch out, Blue!
5 Run Homer

Lindor is real good
Paul Swydan
10:58
Now that Lester is out of the game, Lindor traded stealing second for getting there on a hit.

Which city would be more likely to riot after losing the WS?
Dave Cameron
10:58
I would imagine Philly will riot no matter who wins just for practice.
Paul Swydan
10:58
Hah
The Hamburglar
10:59
Well with their murder rate, I'm not sure if you could tell Chicago was actually rioting or it was just a regular Wednesday
vlock1
10:59
Having recently moved to Philly, I can say: that sounds accurate.

Did you know Mike Napoli had sleep apnea?
Dave Cameron

Tell me more!

not to excuse anything, but I suspect the political aspect of managing means some decisions are made w/ narratives weighting heavier than others

So the eyetest tells me that Grimm looks good, but really isn't. The numbers back that up?
Dave Cameron
11:00
No, Grimm is very good.
Paul Swydan
11:00
Sure, but seeing as how David Ross seems like he's angling for a manager's job, I'm not sure he would have been the guy you have to tiptoe around.
Baseball needs more Baez-Lindor moments.
Mark
11:01
That was a totally ridiculous non-PH. Soler has a 12% walk rate this year, the bases are loaded, and he has a MUCH higher chance of running into one than Ross does.

Tito will never lose a World Series game.

I know it's only game 1, but have people underestimated Cleveland the entire postseason? It seems like each round, they've been the underdogs. And they're looking pretty darn good so far.
Dave Cameron
11:01
They will look worse tomorrow when they throw Bauer.
