I agree with it. Maddon is very good at handling players mixing lineups over the course of a long season. I think he has gotten a little too cute in the playoffs, but players' impact is much much bigger than the manager.

Is Javy a better defender than Lindor?
Craig Edwards
7:48
I don't think so.
Jeff Sullivan
7:48
Hard to imagine

True or false: slow pace of play is to baseball as concussions/brain damage is to football?
Jeff Sullivan
7:48
Brain damage will/would prevent people from playing the sport. That seems like the bigger problem
And here's Chapman for the four-out save

Who is Hamell or Hammells. I only know of a Jason Hammel

How do you get a player like Baez to slow it down and don't expand the strike zone so much?
Craig Edwards
7:49
I have to look it up every time I write about him.
Jeff Sullivan
7:50
He's always going to be aggressive, no matter what. But they've already got him to cut down on his swing after he has a strike or two

If Cubs hold on, next game is the key, isn't it? Kluber vs. Lackey in Game 4 screams advantage Indians, but Game 5 is Hendricks v. Bauer...
Jeff Sullivan
7:51
I don't mean to be dismissive! But, they're all key. Every last one. Can't assume anything no matter the starting pitcher(s). Kluber is unlikely to be that dominant again

NYDailynews reports the players elected to go with Wahoo on the cap rather than the block C. Yuck.

what record does rod carew hold for one of his batting titles?
Jeff Sullivan
7:53
At least you get the explanation that players are superstitious. But next year they should no longer get the opportunity to make this decision in the first place
Craig Edwards
7:53
I believe it is for mad hits.
Jeff Sullivan
7:54
Chapman fans Ramirez at 103. To the ninth we go
Uncle Jimbo
7:54
What does Jansen get as a FA?
Jeff Sullivan
7:54
Something huge, like 4/$90m
Craig Edwards
7:54
Not sure. 4/60?
oh wow.
Jeff Sullivan
7:54
Maybe we compromise at 4/$75m
Craig Edwards
7:54
okay.
Jeff Sullivan
7:55
Sounds like we have a deal
Good doing business with you, Craig
Craig Edwards
7:55
to the Dodgers? Rangers?

Can you pitch yourself into a save situation if the runs are from inherited runners and charged to the starter? As in can it become a save situation when it wasn't one to start out with?
Craig Edwards
7:55
nope

My dad always talks about how hard modern players throw. He said not a single pitcher on "The Big Red Machine" could throw 90. Is this true, or is he wrong?
Jeff Sullivan
"Rob Dibble throws a baseball 100 m.p.h. "
Well that was a confusing answer on my part
Wrong Reds!
carter
7:56
No, only guy to win batting title and hit no HRs.
Jeff Sullivan
7:57
Your dad is correct that pitchers now are throwing way, wayyyyyyy harder. I bet some guys used to scrape 90, but 90 then was 100 now
Craig Edwards
7:57
pretty sure it was mad hits, although that is interesting, too
Daniel
7:57
In game management is overrated.
Jeff Sullivan
7:57
This is actually extremely true
7:58
Fans put way too much weight on what those decisions truly mean
