"The media" is a broad umbrella. I think a lot of people concluded that what we're seeing couldn't happen, mostly because it never has. This is a historically weak class. Hard to predict an outlier like that.

Sold next bottle is whistle pig
Adam Bittner
9:27
Nik Bonitto (LB) goes to Denver at 64. Saw him connected to the Steelers at one point.
epiballo
9:27
Take Pickett at 52 and you lose the fifth year option. Another year is worth 32 picks
Biff
9:27
I like Nakobe Dean if he's there in the 3rd Round, but i think he's falling because he seems way too small (6'0" 225lbs). I'd like to get Chad Muma (Wyoming) in Round 3 as a potential replacement for Bush.
Rude Rob
9:27
But we got the best of the historically bad QBs

the whistle pig 8 year is exceptional for the price....10 year and 15 year amazing also, but that 8 is no slouch

Pickett's only 'good' season was 2021 - when the 13 teams he played against had a combined record of 56-56 (so sub-.500 if you take out their non-conference 'cupcake' opponents.)  Of the 9 ACC opponents, only 3 had winning records (Miami just 7-5).  Pickett's stats came against crummy teams with crummy defenses.  Very bad pick at #20...
Adam Bittner
9:30
True. But it's worth noting that he didn't just beat them. He kicked their ass, for the most part. Including one of the goliaths of the sport in Clemson. Down year for them, but worth noting. And that comes from a Penn State guy.
WestCoast
9:30
Not sure why so many doubts about Pickett. He is very accurate, mobile, good head, decent arm. He will just do fine
pdxJaxon
9:30
IF Ken Pickett is a bust, we didnt trade up or bet the bank to get him....so,.....
come on Dubble07,,......he's gonna be good. I need to send you some whistle pig.....its gonna be a good year
Next Coach
9:30
Yeah I would certainly hate to lose an option year on a player like Bush for example
Adam Bittner
9:30
Haha
Michael Cee
9:30
If we don't go DL here in the 3rd it's pretty much a lock that Tuitt will be back ...
Scott
9:31
Picket wouldn't have lasted until 52, he would've been too high on some team's draft board.
Patrick B
9:31
Pickett was third in Heisman voting and won the ACC. Pickens played for national champ Georgia. Najee played for national champ Alabama. Pittsburgh is picking winning players from winning programs. That’s why they chose Pickens over Moore.
ccoley11
9:31
cee I think it’s a lock Tuitt is back otherwise DL would have been addressed already
Adam Bittner
9:32
Luke Fortner, a center, goes to JAX at 65.
pdxJaxon
9:32
even if tuitt is back, he has injury issues and ALL of our DL is getting old....we really need to get a DL in #3
Adam Bittner
9:32
It's true that this unit is old. But it's also true that they can use a *lot* of draft capital in the year ahead if the vets can hold on for one more year.
epiballo
9:32
Get a run-stuffing lineman and you watch Bush's play improve. He coming off an injury, so ... the jury, in my opinion, is still out. We may need that fifth year option ...
Next Coach
9:33
Jones is the only DL worth a third rounder.
ccoley11
9:33
Agreed Jaxon most needed position. We need someone to contribute this year
tjdj
9:33
I am here for the early news on who has been drafted and the thoughts of the professional sports writers. The comments of others are just background noise.
Sal
9:33
Tyson is coming off a major injury as is tuitt, no guarantee with either, but hoping they regain their superior form.
ziggi
9:34
Burrow only had one really good college year?
Biff
9:34
DL is important. If Tuitt comes back and the rest are all healthy, they'll be okay for one more season. But the most important part of the defense is the LBs so I would expect them to soon get either a potential replacement for Bush or a good 3rd OLB to rotate in with Watt and Highsmith.
ccoley11
9:34
Your lucky I’m here then to tjdj
epiballo
9:34
Well Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuussssse US 'background noises!
Adam Bittner
9:35
Joshua Ezeudu, a guard from UNC, goes to NYG at 67.
ziggi
9:35
How about DL Jones in the third and DL Farrell in the fourth.
Next Coach
9:36
National professional sports writers don't know any more than fans. The local guys have more insight. Well, except Adam!!!!  (that was a joke)
Dubble07
9:36
pdxJaxon -- even though I'm critical of Pickett chosen at #20 -- as a Steelers fan I'm rooting for him for sure!  (i just think we're going to be looking for the next QB within 2-3 years...)
pdxJaxon
9:36
if we get Jones in the 3rd, we should all be ecstatic......
Zamo
9:37
I’m sorry but I couldnt disagree more with most of you. You understand we were LAST against the run and you can do r want to trust tuitt and Alualu?  Please!  You win and lose in the trenches and we stink.
George in OKC
9:37
When I say media, I mean the National Media. The talking heads on TV mainly. Jerry Dulac has been saying it for months now that this QB class was very weak and to not be surprised if they fell out of the first round.
Zamo
9:38
Trade up you clowns and get a stud run stuffer!  Enough already
Adam Bittner
9:39
Zamo, I don't necessarily trust the old heads up front, personally. I just think that's the logic. They're invested in those guys. And if it doesn't work out with them this year, you have the draft capital to attack it next year having addressed other needs.
